Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Mid-Term Break Reminder
A reminder that this is the last week of school before the mid-term break. School will finish this Friday, 3 October, at the usual time.
Due to staff professional development (CPD days), the first day back for Kennedy School students will be Wednesday, 15 October, at the usual time.
Happy Holidays! Enjoy the break.
A Wonderful Day of Partnership and Celebration
It was fantastic to see so many of you at school today for our Celebration of Learning and 3-Way Conferences! It's always a special experience when we can come together, students, parents, and teachers, to explore learning, discuss strengths, and identify next steps.
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedules to be with us. These days are so important for building a strong partnership between home and school, and it was wonderful to see you enjoying the time together as a family. As always, if you have a question or concern, please don't hesitate to reach out so we can assist you.
Digital Citizenship Assembly
The Year 5 & 6 students attended a Digital Citizenship assembly this week, led by Arthur Fang, a Speech & Language Therapist, Counsellor, and expert on online gaming effects.
Arthur discussed the sophisticated hooks gaming platforms use and the creation of habit loops. His core message was that gaming is enjoyable when balanced with offline outdoor activity. The children received practical tips to support a balanced lifestyle.
Mid-Autumn Festival
If you were near the Year 1 classrooms, I hope you caught a glimpse of the amazing lantern display. What a beautiful sight! You are very creative people, we’re so impressed.
We've also thoroughly enjoyed the recent Mid-Autumn assemblies. Our students shared great poems, danced, told stories, performed creative role-plays, and even shared some fun raps. The children’s energy and talent entertained the whole community and also promoted the learning of the Chinese language and culture.
Have a wonderful Mid-Autumn Festival, everyone!
Kind regards,
Brenda

This week, we will continue to explore the Learner Profile by examining how it is developed in the Library, Expressive Arts and PE. We will then connect the experiences to how we can use them at home. We will examine the Learner Profile in Chinese class after the October break.

Clubs starting after mid term break
We look forward to starting two news clubs after the mid term break. On Wednesday 15 October, we will start our Pre-season Running Club and Multi-Sports Club.
Running Club - Registered students should meet trackside at Stanley Ho in their Kennedy PE kit at 7.15 am with all of their belongings ready for the school day. After the session finishes, we will all come back to school together in time for the regular school day.
Year 2/3 Multisports Club - Registered students should meet outside the gym at 3.00 pm in their sports kit, ready to participate. As this club is aimed at our younger students, we will play a wide variety of ball games including football, basketball, netball, dodgeball, benchball, castleball and many more. This club is full.
Well done Kennedy Girls Footballers!
Last Saturday, we took two teams of 19 players to compete in the annual HKPSSA Girls' Football Tournament at Peak School.
This event is a highlight for our teams, and they showcased impressive football knowledge, skill, confidence, and teamwork. Both our A and B teams recorded victories in their group matches with Team A even reaching the finals!
The sportsmanship and mutual encouragement displayed in matches against Quarry Bay, Peak, Beacon Hill and Bradbury Schools was fantastic and each player gained valuable insights into the game, learned more about themselves as players, and identified ways to enhance their footballing skills moving forward. Congratulations to everyone involved!
Year 6 Swim Gala
We are very proud and excited to invite all Year 6 parents to our Year 6 swimming gala! It will be an exciting morning of swimming participation, competition and house rivalry.
Date: Friday 24 October 2025
Time: 9.00am to 12.15pm approximately
Venue: HKU Stanley Ho Swimming Pool.
The students have been selected for their races based on their abilities shown in this term's swimming block as recommended by Aquakidz swim coaches. The race list is being finalised and will be shared with students after the holidays.
Students will wear their regular swimming suit; long hair must be tied up under a swim cap (in House colours). Students will need to bring a small snack, water bottle and towel. Sunscreen should be applied before school.
Many thanks to Aquakidz who run the Year 6 swimming programme and swim gala together with the P.E. Department.
Kennedy Swimming lessons
Your child’s water safety swim lesson will take place in your child’s final swim session of this term. Please look carefully at the swimming schedule for the remaining weeks of swimming as some classes will be swimming at different days and times to their usual session.
Information about the water safety swim lesson
Students need to bring in the following clothes IN ADDITION to their usual swim kit:
Year 2: white T-shirt (for the first lesson of the week only)
Year 3 & 4:light coloured baggy shorts and white long sleeved T-shirt
Year 5 & 6: light coloured tracksuit/pyjama bottoms and white long sleeved T-shirt.
Only white or light coloured clothing will be permitted in the pool as dark colours react with the chlorine.
STUDENTS WILL BE UNDER STRICT SUPERVISION BY THE AQUAKIDZ EXPERIENCED AND FULLY ACCREDITED TEACHERS AT ALL TIMES.
Please refer to the swimming timetable to ensure your child is prepared on the correct day.
Last 2 weeks of the swimming schedule:
This year, Kennedy School will again be taking part in the ‘Box of Hope’ charity drive. This fantastic charity helps children in difficult circumstances here and in other Asian countries.
This year, we are going back to the traditional way of creating a box. The box should be wrapped and filled at home and brought into school when finished.
How to fill the Box of Hope video
Box labels will be sent home after the half term break or you can download a copy HERE. Please start looking out for a shoebox and items to donate. Thank you!
