2) Parent IBO Evaluation Survey
In May this year, representatives from the International Baccalaureate Organisation will visit Kennedy School to evaluate the implementation of the Primary Years Programme. In preparation for this visit, the school is currently undertaking a 12-month self-study process, which involves representation from all members of our community. At Kennedy School we very much value our parent voice and would therefore appreciate your feedback on how you, as a parent, perceive our implementation of the Primary Years Programme.
This feedback will form a critical part of the school’s self-study, which will be submitted to the International Baccalaureate Organisation in April, one month prior to the visit to the school by the Primary Years Programme visiting team members in May.
Please complete this survey by March the19th. Please click here to access the survey.
Here are the updated Covid-19 related guidelines at Kennedy School. Please take the time to read through it and keep this in a safe place for future reference.
What if the building we live in is mandated to do compulsory testing, can my child come to school?
Should your building be placed on the Compulsory Testing list, your child needs to stay at home until he/she has been tested and received a negative test-result. School should be informed immediately and a copy of the test-result needs to be emailed to school to nurse@kennedy.edu.hk prior to the student’s return to face-face classes in school.
What if my child has a fever?
If your child has a fever, please make sure to keep him/her at home according to the fever policy. It is recommended by the CHP and EDB that your child is seen by a doctor and checked/tested for any symptoms of Covid-19. Your child will need to stay at home for another 48 hours after the fever has returned to normal and has ceased using any fever reducing medication (normal Kennedy School fever policy).
What if my child has other symptoms?
As Covid-19 has shown a large range of different symptoms, in order to assure the health of all of our students, children with other symptoms of malaise (cold, profuse sneezing, profuse coughing, vomiting, diarrhoea, general malaise, loss of smell and taste etc.) should be kept at home for observation and be checked by a doctor if the symptoms persist or the child also develops a fever.
What if my child is sick and cannot come to school?
Please inform your child’s class teacher and the nurse (nurse@kennedy.edu.hk) regarding your child's symptoms and seek medical advice from your doctor as needed. We have to monitor symptoms of illness for all absent students (as advised by the CHP).
What if my child or someone in our household/close contact is confirmed with Covid-19?
Should your child or anyone in your household be confirmed with Covid-19, the school needs to be informed immediately by email to nurse@kennedy.edu.hk and the child needs to stay away from school and follow the guidelines of the CHP.
What happens if a Confirmed Case/Preliminary tested Positive Case of Covid-19 is found in school?
If a student or staff is found to be positive, the student/staff will not come to school. The CHP will conduct epidemiological investigation and contact tracing and advise the school on what steps to take based on this. The CHP will give the school guidelines about the suspension of face-face classes, activities, cleaning and disinfection of school premises and arranging student/staff to conduct Covid-19 testing. CHP will treat each case individually and will guide the school regarding close contacts and possible quarantine based on their investigation and contact tracing.
New Guidelines affecting PE classes at school:
The Government has updated their Guidelines for Physical Education. It is now mandatory for children also to wear masks during PE classes. Students with respiratory illnesses (such as Asthma) and other related medical conditions will be exempt. Kennedy School PE teachers will modify the intensity of the activities the children will participate in and will inform children at the start of each class that if they feel any discomfort participating in PE with their mask on, to take their mask off and sit down (away from the other children) and take a small break.

Well Being Puzzle - One Step at a Time through March
Students from Years 4 to 6 are being encouraged to reflect on their daily practices as part of their Health Related Fitness Unit.
The purpose of this process is for students to build positive routines for their health and well-being.
There are three areas of focus:
Physical - any movement activity that increases a child's heart rate such as hiking, jogging, cycling, scooting or dancing etc
Giving Back - any action that demonstrates consideration for others such as an act of kindness, writing to a friend or clearing away the dishes etc
Self Care - taking the time to pause and avoid screen time by drawing, painting, reading, listening to music etc
Each time a child recognises that they have taken any of the above actions they colour in a piece of the puzzle. (Puzzle available HERE)
The challenge is for students to complete this process throughout the month of March.
Please encourage and support your child by asking them to discuss their day with you.
Here is what some of them have done so far!
Science in Year 2
There has been a hive of excitement in Year 2 this week. Students have been thinking like a scientist this week; making predictions, making careful observations and finding out answers to their many questions. Some of their experiments involved unpoppable plastic bags, floating tea bags, blossoming paper flowers and boiling liquids in their hands.
We cannot wait for next week to find out more!
