Dear parents,
Welcome back to Term 3 and I trust that everyone enjoyed the school holiday break.
I would like to thank Debbie Sheward for steering the Kennedy ship during Term 2 in what was another term of disruption on this eighteen month roller coaster ride we have been on. I would also like to thank every member of the Kennedy School staff who all voluntarily Covid tested during the holiday break to ensure that we were ready to go and fully open for business at the start of this week.
I know the children are very excited to be back at school and it reminds me again of what an important place schools are to the well being of our students, families and the community in general.
We will be continuing with the current school timings until we receive further information that the current restrictions can be further relaxed. These decisions are beyond our control but we will be ready to adapt as required.
The health and hygiene guidelines, including mask wearing are more important than ever now as we begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel, so please continue to communicate this important information to your children.
I am pleased we have still managed to produce a yearbook this year, as this year as much as any year, needs to be remembered, looked back on and shared with family and friends.
Regards,
John Brewster
Principal

Dear Parents,
Kennedy School is very proud to present a fabulous momento of the experiences and memories our children have made this academic year 2020-21. It certainly has been a year we will never forget!
The Kennedy School Yearbook is packed full of children’s work, entertaining photographs, pictures of school-wide events and students’ amazing achievements. All of our children are featured as a celebration of school life at Kennedy School.
Each hardcover Yearbook can be purchased for $300.

Once purchased, the books will be delivered to the students' classrooms in late May/June.

Tetrapak Recycling at Kennedy School
Every Monday, from Monday 19 April, we will be collecting clean and dry tetrapaks to be recycled here at Kennedy School.
Between 8:00 and 8:20 am each Monday, the Year 6 Environmental Ambassadors will help collect and weigh donated tetrapaks as the students arrive.
The students put the paks in their house team box which will be clearly marked.
Please only bring these in on Mondays.
Tetrapaks must be cut open, washed and dried before being brought in.
The winning house this term, who brings in the most by weight, will win a prize!
Check this website for more information about how Tetrapaks are recycled!

PTA Spellathon
Everyone is gearing up for the Kennedy School Spellathon!
Here is a quick rundown of what you need to know:
Where: All the teachers have shared the words with the students via email or in their spelling journals.
When: The spellathon will take place on a day convenient to your teachers, during the week of 26th April.
How: If you have raised sponsorship money, the best way to get it safely to the PTA is via a bank transfer. Please remember to put your child's name and class as a reference and email proof of payment to vrummun@kennedy.edu.hk
FPS ID: 0241372 or direct transfer 808-484679-838
That way we can log your amount and see who has raised the biggest amount! The deadline for receiving money to designate prizes is Thursday 6th MAY
What: We have some fab prizes, including an iPod touch, Ryze trampoline park vouchers, Bookwise vouchers, Delaney's food vouchers and signed rugby balls! Sponsorship is not compulsory, everyone will participate, so however you decide to join in, it's up to you!
Everything we raise will go directly back into items for the school.
Happy learning!
Book Day Competition
Take a photo reading in a strange or creative place. It could be in a tree, or on a skateboard, or even hanging upside down. Be as creative as you can! There will be prizes for the best photo in each year group and a display will be made in the library of all the fantastic photos.
Please email your submissions to Ms. Worringham or Ms. Woodall by Friday 23rd April.
Good News from the Library!
As of Monday 19th April, students will be permitted to take two library books home. Please be sure to follow the guidelines below in order to maintain a safe environment for our entire community of library borrowers.
Library books must be kept in a separate bag inside the school bag. This can be a recycled cloth bag or a Kennedy School purple library pocket. Please ensure your child's name is on this book bag.
Once library books are returned they will be quarantined for three days and then cleaned with a sanitising solution.
