Dear Parents,
It’s been a wonderful week seeing our students return to an almost normal week at school. It has reminded me of how incredibly resilient our children have been during this difficult and unprecedented past eighteen months. However, we have noticed that a number of children are finding it difficult to settle into the traditional school playground environment again and some have chosen the ‘wrong options’ during playtimes that can put other children at risk. A family conversation with your children around being kind, considerate and respectful to our friends when playing would help us. Who would have thought we need to learn how to play again!
We are currently finalising next year’s class lists and teacher placements. A lot of time and effort is put into this process by the senior management and teachers and I would ask you to refrain from sending class placement requests to myself, the Vice Principals or class teachers as we are unable to take into account any parent requests.
Break and Snack time arrangements
Please be reminded that we are not having lunch at school as this is not allowed with the current ESF/EDB arrangements. We have built in two break times into our school day and we encourage the children to bring two healthy snacks to school which can be eaten in the classrooms whilst adhering strictly to existing social distance rules. I apologise for not allowing children to eat with utensils at the moment but we need to clearly show we are only having snacks and hot food with utensils could be construed as “lunch”.
2021/2022 School Calendar
Please see attached the Kennedy School Calendar HERE for next year. Please note that school starts back for students on Wednesday 18 August.
Announcement of the interim Principal at Kennedy School
You will have received a letter from Belinda Greer, the ESF CEO this morning announcing the appointment of Ms Mina Dunstan as the interim Principal of Kennedy School for the 2021/2022 school year. I could not think of a better leader to take over Kennedy School. I have worked closely with Mina for the past ten years and we share the same beliefs, philosophies and fundamental commitment to provide opportunities for our students to be the best they can be.
I am confident Mina will cherish what is special about Kennedy School and the community whilst at the same time leading the school to an even brighter future. Below is a letter from Mina to the Kennedy School community.
Enjoy your weekend.
Regards,
John Brewster
Principal

It is hot out there! We are seeing thirsty children with empty water bottles at snack time. Please remember to bring TWO water bottles filled with water to ensure the children stay hydrated throughout the day.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF THE PTA (PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION)?
Did you know that items like extra books, toys for classrooms, and educational teaching aids are funded through the PTA? This could not have happened without the Kennedy families participating to raise monies at our online community fundraising events.
The last event, the Spell-A-Thon, was so successful we want to thank you on behalf of some super happy kids as we are about to buy $60,000.00 worth of home readers (this is over 150 books per year band) and all the books for Battle of the Books in conjunction with our school library.

Please note the last day to order uniforms will be Friday June 25th. Please email uniform@kennedy.edu.hk with your orders. An invoice will be sent and uniform delivered directly to your child.
