Dear Parents,
We have had another settled week in school. The students are adjusting positively to their learning routines across the year levels. This week we have been able to take students over to the Hong Kong University (HKU) pitches for playtime. It is a very popular place to run and play with friends.
Kennedy Clubs
This week we are delighted to be rebuilding the provision of extra curricular clubs at Kennedy School after such a long absence. These clubs are being led by external providers and our school staff. Thank you for understanding that no adults are permitted to be waiting in the school grounds during any of the clubs. Only teachers or coaches and the students may be on site after school when during the clubs. This is a strict requirement by the Education Department Bureau (EDB).
I am pleased to introduce the new staff to all parents in this week’s newsletter. New colleagues are enjoying their start at Kennedy School.
Road Safety Request
Please drive with extreme caution on Sha Wan Drive at arrival and dismissal times as the congestion has been building since the return to school. I encourage all parents of walkers to remind their child about crossing the road safely.
Enjoy the weekend.

Children from Year 4 and Year 6 have the opportunity to go across to Stanley Ho Sports Centre during the second snack time this term. This has proved to be hugely popular with the children. To enable us to supervise the children we need some volunteer parents who are willing to come across with us one or more days a week. The time commitment is 12.30 pm to 1.15 pm each day. If we get 2 or 3 mums/dads who can commit to a day each week that would be fabulous. For the safety of the children, we will request that parent helpers must have completed 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccination at least 14 days prior to volunteering at the school.
Please click here to fill in the Google Form if you are able to assist with the supervision and your help is much appreciated.
The Central Application period for children born in 2017 (for entry to Year 1 in August 2022) will be from 1 to 30 September 2021.
Applications can be submitted online via the ESF website.
Please note that siblings of students already attending an ESF school will also need to submit their applications during the central application period.

The 2021 Mid-Autumn Festival is on Tuesday 21 September. This year, one of the highlights of Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations will be the "Recycled Lantern Design Competition".
The deadline for the competition is Thursday 16 September 2021. We look forward to seeing many lanterns hanging in our school!
On Monday 6 September, we will be restarting our collection of washed and dried tetrapaks for recycling here at Kennedy School.
Programme Details
On Monday mornings, children can bring their packs between 8:00 to 8:20 am, which will be checked, collected and weighed. Points are awarded to each House Team. The Lions won the challenge last year and Kennedy School was one of the top collectors of tetrapaks in Hong Kong! Go Lions!
Packs that are not prepared correctly will be thrown away as we are unable to process them at school. Do not bring tissue boxes or any other recycling materials.
What is a Tetrapak
Tetrapaks are beverage cartons that are actually made of plastic, metal and paper, which makes them difficult to recycle. Kennedy School works with Vitasoy to collect and recycle these materials in Hong Kong, which are then turned into reusable materials.
How to prepare a Tetrapak for Recycling
Tetrapaks must be completely cut open, washed and dried before being brought in to school and the lid must be taken off.
Check the Vitasoy website for more information about how Tetrapaks are recycled!

Calling all adventurous Year 4, 5 and 6s! The 28th Kennedy School Cub Pack has been running for more than 10 years and meets every Friday afternoon with an emphasis on fun, adventure and independence.
If this sounds like you, please email kennedycubshk@gmail.com with your child’s name and class.
Spaces are limited and Cub Scouts is a volunteer organisation reliant on Mums and Dads to lend a hand. Your help and support is needed to make the Kennedy Cub Scout Pack a success!
