Dear Parents,
It has been a busy and productive first term at Kennedy School. The students have had some fun this week with their classmates and teachers. It has been a pleasure to see them so happy during Christmas activities which have signified the end of a successful term. I have enjoyed getting to know the Kennedy School community and hope to see more parental involvement in school life in 2022. The students enjoyed the Christmas pantomime today which was performed by staff.
We also farewell Ms. Mihaela Donovan (Educational Assistant) who will be leaving the school and wish her every success in the future.
Sadly we farewell long-serving teachers - Mr.Tim Luck (Head of PE) and Ms. Payal Bhaskar (4B) are relocating with their families to Europe. I would like to extend my best wishes to them for a bright and happy future. They have written farewell messages to the community after loyal and exemplary service to many students.
During Term 1, three new staff babies were born - congratulations to Mrs Amy Beedham (1B), Ms Danielle Evans (2E), and Ms Becca Harper (2A) on these precious children. I am happy to share some recent photos of these new Kennedy School community members and extend our congratulations to these colleagues.
I am grateful to the Kennedy staff for their continued hard work during this pandemic. I encourage the students to rest up and relax over the next fortnight. Enjoy the holiday season with your family and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 3 January 2022 when the new term begins.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas,
Mina

The children dressed in amazing Christmas jumpers today to support the Save The Children charity. We are pleased to announce that we raised more than $33,000 for their Children’s Emergency Fund (CEF) which responds to humanitarian emergencies around the world.
Well Done and Thank You, Kennedy School!
ii) SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS
Techni Photo has extended the deadline for ONLINE photo orders of student photographs to Wednesday 5 January 2022. Please refer to the photo order form which was sent home with the children for details on how to place your orders online.
1) GIFT FROM PTA TO THE YEAR 6s
It is customary for every Year 6 child to receive a water bottle from Outward Bound as part of their camp experience.
This week, funded and organised by the PTA, Ms Dunstan presented every child in Year 6 with their own water bottle as a memento of the special time everyone had on camp. The children were very grateful !
2) SENIOR CHOIR CHRISTMAS CONCERT
It was a real delight to welcome the parents and caregivers of our Senior Choir to El Charro on Monday evening to enjoy a fabulously festive Christmas Concert.
A massive congratulations to the whole Senior Choir, who sang their hearts out and a huge thank you to Mrs GG and Ms Worringham.
You can feel festive at home at any time and enjoy the concert and the children's message by clicking on the link below:

The sale of the trams raised a wonderful HK$15,000 for the fundraising efforts of the PTA.

Thank you for all the support for the plant sale and I hope they are all brightening up your homes.
TETRAPAK RECYCLING
Tetrapak recycling has been a huge success this term - 250 kilograms (About 8,200 tetrapaks) have been recycled with many families bringing drink cartons in from their communities.
The Lions are in the lead with 71 kg collected so far! Well done and we will continue our collections every Monday next term.
HOUSE RECYCLING
Our House Recycling programme is also gathering speed. During these Christmas holidays, please take your recycling to any of these Green 6 recycling centres. Earn points for your House and do your bit for the environment!
Scan your House code when you enter the recycling centre:

PARENT VOLUNTEERS
We are looking for enthusiastic parents to join a friendly gardening group - no experience required. Please contact Ms Julie in Reception or Mr Tremmel at ttremmel@kennedy.edu.hk if you are interested.
CUB SCOUTS
Congratulations to these Kennedy School Cub Scouts who have been awarded the Golden Bauhinia Award, the most challenging and highest award that Cub Scouts can receive in Hong Kong.
These eight students spent much of their time in Year 6 working on the award - cleaning beaches, camping, hiking in the day and night, building structures, climbing, starting fires and cooking without utensils. This was made even more challenging as many tasks had to be completed while the students were Home Learning.
Well done!
