Dear Parents,
Welcome to Term 2
We have had a productive first week of term. Staff remain focussed on lessons which prioritise core skills in Mathematics and English. In addition staff have continued to prioritise the social outcomes of students after the disruptions due to the pandemic - teamwork, courtesy, courage, manners, cooperation, negotiation and empathy. All of these skills support a child to be successful socially and emotionally across the curriculum and with peers.
The students enjoyed a range of engaging and active lessons with peers. Please ‘walk with me’ and take a glimpse into learning at Kennedy this week.
New Staff
We have four new staff joining Kennedy School in Term 2. Mr Liam Slatem has joined the school as a PE teacher, Mr Tom Coller has commenced teaching 4B. Mrs Charlene Stubbs and Miss Lilian Li have joined the school’s inclusion team as educational assistants. Welcome to these new colleagues. Please find their introductions below:
Kennedy School Clubs Term 2
Following a request to reconsider the cancellation of all clubs in ESF schools, I am pleased to inform parents that the staff-led clubs for Term 2 will go ahead. This means the clubs which are led by Kennedy School staff will not be suspended and continue as planned in Term 2. Please see the details in today’s newsletter about the Term 2 clubs which will be running for the students.
External club providers are not running clubs at this time.
Have an enjoyable weekend with your family.

COMPULSORY TESTING
If your child is subject to compulsory testing, please read the order carefully and ensure they stay at home until they have taken the test and received a negative result.
Please email your class teacher to report your child’s absence and send the negative test to the nurse (nurse@kennedy.edu.hk) before returning to school.
LOOKING FOR SOCKS
The Medical Room’s supply of spare socks is running low. If you have extra children’s ankle socks in white or grey, please consider donating them to the Medical Room.

As we transition to our new school uniform, our existing Kennedy School uniform is on sale on the School Uniform website (while stocks last....!)

ANNUAL ESF LUNAR NEW YEAR CARD DESIGN COMPETITION
Seeking student artwork for our ESF Lunar New Year Card
We are searching for a piece of student artwork to appear on this year’s ESF Lunar New Year card celebrating the upcoming Year of the Tiger.
WHEN:
The deadline for submissions is 2 pm on Friday 14 January 2022.
FORMAT & THEME:
Think about all the different images/symbols that remind you of the theme ‘Lunar New Year in Hong Kong’.
A4 or A3 size paper
The art can be portrait or landscape.
Submit artwork without a greeting message. ESF designers will add an official greeting message ‘Happy Lunar New Year’.
Please DO NOT include ‘Kennedy School’, ‘ESF logo’ or ‘2022’ in your design as we will add this in the border later on. Clearly write your name, class, age and title of your design on the back.
Please make sure the submission is an original student artwork and does not contain photos from the internet or design elements (like Canva) that are copyright protected.
The competition is optional and is to be completed at home by the children.
WINNERS:
2 designs will be chosen from each year band. The 12 winning designs will be displayed around the school as part of this year’s Chinese New Year decorations. The best designs will be sent to ESF to represent Kennedy School and a chosen design may be used on this year’s ESF Christmas e-card.
Please send your artwork to your Chinese teacher by FRIDAY 14th January.
