Principal Recruitment - Update #2 from Chris Geary - School Council Chair.
I am delighted to let you know that we now have our final shortlisted candidates selected for this pivotal position at Kennedy School.
We will be moving to the final process during the week beginning 28 November. This process will involve stakeholder engagement on Thursday 1 December with members from different groups within the school community having an opportunity to meet the candidates.
Parents and caregivers will be invited to join the community presentations on Thursday 1 December. Candidates will present to the audience based on a set topic. It is likely this will take place after the school day concludes and I will be able to get the timings to you in the next couple of days.
I would encourage you to attend to be part of this important process.
Chinese-a-thon
A huge thanks to the PTA, the Chinese Team, and to all parents and students. It’s been a fantastic initiative. See more below!
Providing a broad, balanced, and relevant experience for Kennedy School students
The last few weeks have been amazing. Seeing all the activities that the children have been involved in, both inside and outside of the school. It’s been great to have parents and caregivers attending field trips, coming into class to share, and being part of school life again.
Looking at our school calendar from now until the end of the term, there is an array of exciting activities from year group and Chinese assemblies, camps, musical performances, science domes, trip to Hong Kong park, sports tournaments, beach trips, games…you name it! It’s always fun learning at Kennedy School!
Box of Hope
Watching the enormous amount of Box of Hope donations,(926 to be exact) being laid out in the playground and then packed up to be delivered to other families was a magical moment. Thanks to the school community for your amazingly generous donations and to the families who went over and above by providing multiple boxes of hope between 30-60 per family! Absolutely incredible! This gave me goosebumps to feel the love and generosity of our community. THANK YOU!
Student Photographs
Individual student photograph order forms were sent home this week. Please note that the deadline for cheques and online orders is Friday 25 November 2022. Orders received by Techniphoto after this date will incur additional charges. We managed to organise a whole school photo in the playground this year which was wonderful. There is an option to purchase these on the online order form.
I am looking forward to seeing you at the PTA quiz night tomorrow!
As always, if you would like to make contact with any of the leadership team, you will find us in the playground or reach out to me via email at bcook@kennedy.edu.hk.
Kind regards,
Brenda

Parents and Helpers Webinar - Supporting Beginning Readers and Writers at Home
30th of November, 2022
6.00 pm - 7.00 pm
Nurturing and supporting your child to become confident, creative and passionate readers and writers is ultimately what we are aiming to achieve in the classroom. In order to have real success, we need to work together at both school and home to help your child develop the strategies, skills and confidence they need to develop a life-long love of reading and writing. We are hosting a parent and helper webinar for Beginning Readers and Writers on 30th of November from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm.
Our target audience are parents and helpers with children in Years 1 and 2.
Please click here for more details and registration.
Dear Kennedy School community,
Do you like participating in outdoor activities? Teaching children new skills? Helping shape young minds in a positive way? Then the Cub Scouts are for you!
The Kennedy School 28th Cub Scout Pack are looking for volunteers to lead the pack. These adults will lead sessions on Friday afternoons and organise other activities such as hikes, trips, etc. If you are interested, we would like to hear from you.
Please contact Carlo Singson at Carlo291@yahoo.com
Chinese-a-thon
The first-ever Chinese-a-thon was a great success for the Kennedy School Community! Over the past two weeks, this level-appropriate Word Challenge Competition encouraged children from all year levels and language groups to take great efforts in understanding the Chinese character strokes, radicals, structures and formation, as well as writing Chinese words from memory.
A huge thank you to parents for sponsoring your children!
We raised over $110,000 so far from over 400 families!
The Chinese department is looking to purchase technology to support children in Mandarin lessons.
Sponsorship forms will be open until the end of the day, Friday 18th November. The PTA will send Invoices to families next week for all sponsorship pledges received.
