Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Lunar New Year
Well done Gabby Ng (4J)! Her Chinese brush painting was selected out of hundreds of submissions from across the foundation as the ESF Lunar New Year card for 2023. This afternoon, our CEO Belinda Greer came to Kennedy School to congratulate Gabby on her achievement.
Please feel free to download and share this card with friends and family.
This week has been filled with fantastic Chinese New Year celebrations run by our Chinese team. We have seen our talented students perform on stage singing, dancing, doing martial arts, acting and leading an amazing show for the community. Do look out for the live stream on Friday so you can watch it with the parents of the performers.
On Monday, the Chinese carnival was a big hit and the children loved interacting with the Education University of Hong Kong students as they played games and created Chinese arts and crafts. Many thanks to the Year 1 parents for attending with your child.
Well done too to our Dragon and Lion Dance Troop who performed at Hillside Kindergarten and Bradbury School yesterday. We look forward to nurturing and supporting this ancient art form.
Our week will culminate with a lion and dragon dance performed by our own students, followed by a professional performance to usher in the Year of the Rabbit!

A huge thanks to our Chinese team for providing our community with so much fun and joy leading up to the New Year.
As a reminder, the school will finish at the usual time tomorrow (Friday). Have a wonderful holiday break and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 30 January.

School Lunch Service - an update
As you will be aware, we are looking into the possibility of connecting you with an external provider of hot lunches for children. Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey before Christmas - 78% of respondents would like to pay for a lunchtime food service!
We are now actively pursuing this and are looking at potential providers. As you will appreciate, we take the due diligence required to offer such a service very seriously, so please be patient, more news to follow after Chinese New Year.
Sports Shirts for Staff Run After School Activities
If you signed your child up for Staff Run After school activities, your child is entitled to collect a team shirt from the PTA Office.
This does not need to be ordered, simply ask your child to head to the PTA Office so we can ensure they have the correct size. The shirts are all the same design no matter which staff run club your child participates in.
While you are entitled to one shirt per sport, please be mindful and only request what you absolutely need.
PTA Coffee Morning - Friday 3rd February 8:20 am - 9:30 am
Join fellow parents for a casual get together in school. Please register your intention to come using the sign up form link below.
Parent Talks
The PTA is keen to continually support our parent/care-giver and staff community. We are considering arranging a new series of Wellness related talks and would like to hear from you if you have any specific topics you would be interested in.
Please use the form below to record your input.
IN Toolkits!
Last week, each classroom received individualised Sensory Toolkits containing a variety of sensory tools from fidget toys to weighted blankets, wobble cushions to noise cancelling headphones. These sensory tools are designed to help support children’s various sensory needs in the classroom and provide the stimulation or calming they may need in order to self-regulate, focus and learn.
Kennedy School has a strong commitment to inclusion and the sensory tools are available for all the children to access as required, enabling them to have choice and ownership in their learning. An inclusive approach to education means that each individual’s needs are taken into account and these toolkits will help many of our students throughout the school.
A big thank you to the PTA for funding these toolkits and we look forward to feedback from the children and the teachers on how these sensory tools are being used in the classrooms!
