Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The children have come back to school very settled after their Chinese New Year holiday and are enjoying the cooler weather and blue sky days. I hope you all had a lovely holiday. We are looking for a great Year of the Rabbit.
Stakeholder Survey
Continuing to consult with all stakeholders is vitally important to the schools’ development. The ESF Stakeholder Survey was sent to your email address yesterday and I would encourage you to fill this in as soon as you can. The feedback gives us valuable information for our continuous improvement. I encourage you to partake in the survey and to encourage other parents to do so also. If responses are high to the survey questions then we can glean a better picture of all aspects of the school and its operations. Year 4 to 6 students and staff will also have the opportunity to be involved in feedback through the survey. Thanks for helping by spending 5 to 10 minutes to complete it.
Sports Days
Let’s ALL dress up in house colours and get into the spirit of Sports Day for your child’s year group. These will be our first Sports Days in 3 years and we know they will be days to be remembered. Please join us for the fun! More details are below.
RATS and Temperature Checks
We appreciate you continuing to register this information in the ESF APP. We know it is an extra chore for you but it saves us so much time by not having to chase up missing ones. Let’s hope we don’t have long to go!
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
As a school and organisation, we are continuing to embed inclusive practices with a strong emphasis on celebrating diversity and nurturing belonging for all members of our community. We have a very passionate team looking into all aspects of DEI and sharing their learning with staff. We will also be holding assemblies for children in the areas of DEI to continue to update them on these important concepts and practices.
Yesterday Neil Scott (Year 6 teacher) and I attended the Hong Kong Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit which was inspiring and educational. We look forward to sharing more with you in the future. As a reference point here is the ESF DEI statement - found on our website.
After-School Activities - Pick-Up Times
After school staff run clubs have begun. Please note the pick up times and end dates of the sessions which you can view on Gateway.
ESF Draft Calendar 2023-24
Please see below for the draft calendar for the academic year 2023-24.
ESF Connections Programme
If your child is away from school due to sickness and would still like to learn online, they can access the ESF video resources, which you can find here.
If you want to contact any leadership team member, you will find us in the playground or email me at bcook@kennedy.edu.hk.
Kind regards,
Brenda

To celebrate the return of Kennedy School's Sports Day for the first time in three years, we would really like to mark the return of this fun event. Parents are very welcome to attend this event but please note there is no parking available at HKU. Students will wear their Kennedy PE kit for this event. All teachers, students AND PARENTS are also enouraged to wear the house colours of their child and join in with the dress-up fun. If your child would like to have coloured hairstyles or accessories for the day, this is also permitted.

Our Year 4s have made their decision…
On Friday 17th February, Year 4 have decided that the whole school should come to school wearing the theme “Clash of the Patterns” - you can be creative as you like! We look forward to seeing spots, zig zags, stripes, squares, dots, blocks, flowers - any kind of pattern - but try and make the top different from the bottoms!
We ask children to bring in a voluntary donation of $20 to hand in as they arrive at school that day. Year 4 are hoping to use the funds raised to hire a voice coach to help them prepare for their Year 4 show!
Kennedy School Cub Scout Pack
We are delighted to announce the return of the 28th Kennedy School Cub Scout Pack back to our school community. For those of you not familiar with the Scout Association of Hong Kong, their mission is to operate an education movement for young people providing them with challenging and progressive training programmes for their physical, intellectual, social and spiritual development.
The Cub Pack will initially meet every other Wednesday in Term 3 starting from Wednesday 19th April 2023 and is open for Kennedy School students from 7.5 years upwards. The meetings will run straight after school from 3 to 4:30 pm. We would like to welcome children from Years 3 (age depending), 4 and 5. As this will be our last term before the summer, we are not inviting our current Year 6s as they will be moving on at the end of June.
We currently have space to accommodate 24 children. If children were previously attending the Cub Pack, they will have priority, but we would also like to welcome new faces and families to the unit. A small fee for the first term will be required with the view to introducing an annual fee at the start of the new school year in August 2023.
If you are interested in signing your child up, please email Charlene Stubbs at kennedycubshk@gmail.com. Please note that the 28th Kennedy Cub Pack is a community group and will require parental volunteers in order to run the Pack meetings. If you are available to help out, please mention this in your email.
