Dear Parents and Caregivers,
A short note from me today to say we’re looking forward to your attendance at the Meet the Year group session tonight. Zoom links have been sent to you.
Years 2 and 5 parent/caregiver session: 5:00 to 5:45 pm
Years 3, 4, and 6 parent/caregiver session: 5:45 to 6:30 pm
We’re still uncertain about the Typhoon and whether this will influence school tomorrow. Please ensure you have read my message on the APP which was sent yesterday about arrangements in case school is suspended. Fingers crossed it might change direction!
School Uniform
We have unnoticed a few children still wearing the old KS uniform - as a reminder all new uniform pieces should be worn to school from now on.
We look forward to connecting with you soon.
Warm regards,
Brenda

Mid Autumn Family Recycled Lantern Design Competition
We would like to announce the launch of the Mid-Autumn Family Recycled Lantern Design Competition! It is a fun-filled family activity to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival while also caring for the environment. This year, our theme is "Harmony in Moonlight: Celebrating Mid-Autumn Togetherness."
To participate, please create a lantern using recycled materials at home together with your family. Here are some simple guidelines to help you and your child participate:
1️⃣ Symbolism: Use symbols that represent family and togetherness. Think about designs that show holding hands or lanterns intertwined, showing a bond between loved ones.
2️⃣ Cultural Heritage: Be inspired by the rich cultural heritage of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Explore fascinating stories and folklore like Chang'e, the Jade Rabbit, or the legend of Hou Yi and his wife. You can incorporate these into your lantern design.
3️⃣ Vibrant Colours: Use warm and lively colours such as red, yellow, orange, and gold to create a festive feel to your design.
4️⃣ Interactive Elements: Let your creativity shine by adding interactive features to your lantern design. You can include melodies or moving parts that represent unity and togetherness.
5️⃣ Environmental Awareness: Let's be eco-friendly! Use recyclable materials for your lantern and choose energy-efficient lighting options. Together, we can make a positive impact on the environment.
6️⃣ Family Involvement: Encourage the whole family to work together on the lantern design. It's a great opportunity to be creative as a family and strengthen your bond.
7️⃣ Innovation and Creativity: Think outside the box and come up with unique and visually attractive lantern designs. Let your imagination run free!
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, September 20th (Please submit lanterns to your Class teachers)
We are still looking to complete our Girls Football After School Club which will start next Tuesday at HKU pitch 4. This is a fun club led by our PE teachers and the girls will have the opportunity to represent Kennedy School in tournaments.
Last year our team was very successful and won many of these competitions. If your child is interested in joining, please sign them up on Gateway as soon as possible. All levels of ability are welcome! Your daughter does not have to be as good as Sam Kerr but given the opportunity to play, she could be in the future!
Welcome back, readers! The library has many new additions to our fabulous book collection. These include picture books, fiction, non-fiction, and even graphic novels. They are fresh and crisp and exude ‘new book’ smells and are displayed all around the library and waiting to be read.
Last year, the library had a magnificent group of volunteers who put protective covers on more than 500 books and decorated the library for many festivals and cultural events. We continue to welcome parent volunteers to help. No previous experience is required! If you are interested, please email Ms Chan (library@kennedy.edu.hk).
As part of the extensive and diverse Music and Performing Arts programme here at Kennedy School, we would like to offer you the opportunity for your child to learn a musical instrument on a one to one or group basis.
Instrumental tuition helps students in numerous ways. Here is a link you may wish to refer to:

Yearband Led Dress Up Day - Friday 15th September
It is a whole school dress up day on Friday 15th September and Year 6 are in charge!
They have decided that the theme is for the whole school to come wearing PINK!
Pink represents compassion, kindness, empathy and understanding - which as everyone settles into their new routines at school is a wonderful focus.
Students and staff can come wearing clothing or accessories with any shade of pink - from a whole outfit to a T-shirt, a pair of socks….and anything in between.
On the day, please send your child with a suggested minimum donation of $20 which will be collected as students arrive at school. Year 6 will use the donations to organise a year group activity.
(Younger year groups will decide the whole school theme throughout the year and also benefit from this fund raising initiative throughout the year, please help Year 6 on this occasion!)
PTA Office Opening
The PTA remains open by appointment only until further notice.
Please email Fiona at pta@kennedy.edu.hk if you would like to try an item on, or if you wish to enquire about our very limited supply of second hand uniform available.
