Dear Parents and Caregivers,

What a fantastic week it has been! Our students have been fully immersed in learning, clubs, swimming, and all other activities on the timetable.

We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of our hot lunch scheme, which has received very positive feedback from parents, students, and staff. A special thanks to Fiona, our dedicated PTA administrator, for her invaluable assistance in setting up and streamlining the system.

We've been busy hosting webinars for prospective parents of Year 1 students in August 2024, and tomorrow, we have three open day sessions planned for this purpose. 

Thanks for attending the Meet the Year Group sessions and the Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) briefings. We hope you found these sessions informative and beneficial.

Be sure not to miss the upcoming sessions with our Chinese team, where they will explain the programme and address any questions you may have.

Identifying our Sports

Over the course of the year, we take students to various sporting events and tournaments to represent Kennedy School. Our students love participating in these tournaments which often become the highlight of their year. Through our PE and Games lessons and the ECA programme, we try to identify students to invite to such tournaments. It will be wonderful if parents could also help us by filling in this form, listing the sports your child plays regularly and let us know about their performance level if possible.

After School Clubs

Now that after-school clubs have started and the weather is still very hot, please ensure that your child is appropriately dressed for their activity in their PE /sports kit and hat. Students are given time to change out of their regular school uniform at the end of the school day so please send them to school with their sports kit in their bag.

Class Parents

A huge thank you to parents across the school who have come forward as class parents for 2023/24 so far - sign up has been swift this year.

We are still seeking class parents for 1C, 2R and 4D.

The Class Parent is a central contact point for parents throughout the year - and for the teacher and PTA to communicate with our community and seek parent helpers.

Zebratasty School Lunch

The hot lunch service launched this week and Zebratasty have been serving on average 300 hot meals across school every day. We’ve had some great feedback and a few queries.

Key reminders and lessons learnt this week if your child is having a hot lunch:

• CUTLERY - please send it in with your child

• Do discuss what your child will be eating / has eaten so you can make the best choices in future.

• It works best when children are involved in the decision making process - lunch surprises don’t always work that well.

If you haven’t enrolled but are keen to start this month, you can still register but will need to pay an additional $8 per meal ordered. This is automatically shown during the checkout process.

If you are keen to start from next month, registration for October lunch opens on 10th September and will close at 23:59 on 24th September 2023.

The Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) 2023/24 offered by the Department of Health will be launched on 28 September 2023. The Vaccination Subsidy Scheme (VSS) is a government scheme that provides subsidised seasonal influenza vaccination to eligible Hong Kong residents through the participation of private doctors.

Getting a yearly flu vaccine can protect against the serious consequences of flu and keep your child safe and healthy. In Hong Kong, Influenza is most common during winter, so it is advisable to get vaccinated between September and October to be prepared.

A list of Healthcare Service Providers who have joined VSS can be found on the Centre for Health Protection website. You may reach out directly to your preferred clinic and check for more information.
