Message from Brenda
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
As Term 1 comes to a close and the festive season approaches, we reflect on an eventful week filled with engaging classroom activities, enjoyable parties, sports/games, trips, and the excitement of playing with friends outdoors in this wonderful weather. We were delighted by the performance of our orchestra last week, which brought a great Christmas feeling to the school and showcased our talented students. Thanks so much to the parents and caregivers who have helped lead games at the parties, attended excursions and helped out at HKU lunchtime play. We really appreciate your help and support and how you always do this with a smile!
To those families who celebrate, we wish you a very Merry Christmas, filled with joy and happiness. I hope this festive time is an opportunity for you all to unwind and spend quality time with your friends and loved ones. For those who are travelling out of HK, we wish you safe travels. Enjoy your well-deserved break!
Holiday - half day! Dress casual (optional)
The school will close for Term 1 tomorrow, Friday 15 December. It will be a half-day that day, ending at 12 noon. Bus students will board the buses from 11:50 am and walkers are to be collected from 11.57 am. There will be no lunch eaten in school that day. The school will resume again on Monday 8 January 2024 at the usual time. As it is half day - children may wear casual clothing if they would prefer.
Farewell to Fiona Bulmer (PTA Administrator)
We are saying farewell to Fiona at the end of this term as she has resigned from her position. We have all absolutely loved working with Fiona and have found her warm heart, unbelievable efficiency and can-do attitude inspiring as has been her dedication to helping the PTA bring our community together again after COVID. Fiona lives close by and will always be part of the KS family having been a parent here herself. We wish Fiona all the best and thank her enormously for everything she has done to support KS through her work with the PTA.
End of Term 1 reports
The End of Term 1 reports are available to download through the ESF App at 3.00pm today. The reports are made up of both maths and language targets as well as indicators against key learning objectives.
Farewell to Charlotte Clinch (4W)
Charlotte will be leaving 4W to go on maternity leave. We wish Charlotte and her husband all the very best in the exciting times ahead. We look forward to having Charlotte back in KS for 2024/2025. I know the children have loved having her as their teacher and she has been a wonderful colleague to work with. Hayley Wood will be teaching 4W from the beginning of Term 2. Hayley is well known to Kennedy having taught here for a number of years and is returning from maternity leave. We look forward to having Hayley back with us.
Other leavers
As mentioned in the November 30 newsletter, we will also be saying farewell to Cat Lao (Y6 EA) and Anna Mak (Y1/2 music teacher) at the end of the term. We are also saying farewell to one of our regular supply teachers Rachel Percival. Rachel has taught all year levels and has always given her very best and has been happy to step in wherever needed. We wish all of these staff the very best in their new adventures abroad with their families.

School Photographs
If you have ordered school photographs taken by Techni Photo, they have been sent home with your child today, so please check in your child’s school bag.
Uniforms
We still have children wearing old sweaters, cardigans and sweatshirts. Our old uniform is now not to be worn to school. You can purchase these new items online at the uniform shop. We will be more strict on this after the holidays so please be prepared by ordering in advance.

Term 2 Clubs
Spaces are Available in Hockey and Yoga!
Please note that next term's Year 5/6 Hockey club day will take place on Friday rather than Tuesday as originally planned. We are aware that Tuesdays are a very busy day for after-school activities and so we hope that by changing the day to Friday there will be more students able to sign up. Please sign your child up if they are interested, there will be a chance to represent Kennedy in Hockey Tournaments next term if your child is selected.
Yoga is now open to Year 3 as well as Year 4/5
There is still space available in the Yoga club on Thursdays. This club is available to Year 3 students. Yoga is a great way to build flexibility in a calm and friendly atmosphere and helps to improve students' concentration levels. Please encourage your child to take up this great opportunity to learn and practise Yoga with Mrs Evans.
Keep Fit with the Sports Ambassadors over the Holidays
Finally, we wish you all a happy and restful holiday. This week our Kennedy Sports Ambassadors have put together this excellent Tabata workout video that you can use to keep healthy over the holidays. See you all in Term 2!

Signing up for Term 2 Staff-Run After School Clubs
Christmas Post
Our Christmas postbox is up and running in front of reception until 15 December. Please use it to post christmas cards and letters to students and teachers and Amahs at school! Please make sure all names and classes are written clearly on the envelope so our Year 6 elves know where to deliver the letters and cards to. Please do not post sweets or any food items.
Lost Property
The lost property boxes are filling up. These boxes outside Reception will be emptied during the school holidays so please check them for missing items by 15 December 2023.
