Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Year 6 service opportunities
Year 6 students who stayed in Hong Kong this week, enjoyed a variety of engaging activities. One of the highlights of the week was the visit to our community John F Kennedy Centre, which serves students with a variety of disabilities. Our students planned games which were designed to be inclusive and led a ‘games carnival’ for the centre’s students. Some students also performed dancing for the school. Students from both schools engaged enthusiastically and with each other. Kennedy student reflections on our return to school were thoughtful, with many students noting how the experience helped them to develop empathy, appreciation and communication skills.
Some of our Year 6 students also visited the Madam Ho Sin Hang Home for the Elderly in Sha Wan Drive to perform a variety of songs and dances to entertain the elderly residents. They had choreographed their own dances and their energy and enthusiasm was much appreciated by the audience.
Year 6 Beijing trip
Welcome back to Hong Kong to all of our students and staff who visited Beijing this week. We know you had a wonderful time.
You may also wish to check our social media platforms - Facebook and Instagram for lots of photos of their adventures.
Year 5 Market day
Today, our Year 5 students applied their understanding of goods, services, supply and demand by creating a class Market Day. In preparation, students analysed data to identify goods and services that our community would like; they created and used business plans and budgets. Students applied extensive maths skills to calculate profit and loss, as well as consider discounts for their product or service. It was wonderful to see students demonstrate such a deep level of engagement and understanding.

Kennedy Staff
Welcome back to Catriona Woodall who has been on maternity leave and returns to teach 3W today. We would like to say farewell and a huge thank you to Jodie Miller who has taught 3W since October. We wish her all the very best and hope to see her in Kennedy again soon.
Lost and found
We have accumulated a huge amount of lost property over the winter season. There are lots of unnamed jackets, sweaters, waterproofs and other items of clothing in the lost and found boxes. We will be displaying all lost property in the Lower Playground on Friday morning so please feel free to come and claim your child’s lost clothing or send your child to have a look.
Tomorrow - last day of term and dress casual
School will finish tomorrow at 12:00 noon and students may wear casual clothes instead of school uniform if they wish. We will not be collecting donations for this. We would like to wish you all a wonderful Spring break and we look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday, April 9th.

On Saturday our runners from Year 3 to Year 6 ran the final cross country race of the year at Discovery College. A special congratulations to 6S student Sofia Huang for her first place in the Year 6 girls 3km race.

Hockey
On Monday our Hockey team played in the HKPSSA Hockey Championships at HKFC. Our students benefited from a Hockey training session with the Valley Hockey players before the tournament in which our defence played really well against tough opposition. Thank you to Mrs Harris for her time in preparing our Hockey players this term. Next term we will be offering our Hockey after-school club to boys and girls in Year 4 and Year 5 in preparation for next year's fixtures.
Basketball
On Wednesday our Year 5 Basketball players took part in the final HKPSSA event of Term 2 at KGV School. Despite being much younger than the opposition our students played tremendously well and gave their best efforts throughout the tournament. Our Year 5 students recorded some good wins and will take confidence from this performance into future tournaments.

Golf interest
Earlier this week I sent a message to Year 3-6 parents regarding the possibility of creating our very first Kennedy Golf After School Club. I know that we have some keen golfers amongst our students and I would like to provide them with the chance to take part in a regular golf session with a coach. As a keen golfer myself I would like to see if we can make this happen for our students. So far the response has been very positive and I will be in touch soon with interested parents about the club.
If you wish to register your child and have not already done so please fill in this form by Tuesday 9th April at 9am so that I can coordinate with the golf academy and bus company to make it happen. I am looking to start this 7-week club on Friday 12th April leaving Kennedy School by bus at 3.15pm.
Games continues until Wednesday 24th April.
Please note that we still have 3 weeks of Games after the Easter Holiday before we move onto swimming.
Swimming starts the week of Monday 29th April. If your child has not been swimming since we finished our swimming sessions in Term One please may I suggest that you take them to a swimming pool to refamiliarise your child with the water.
Thank you to all of the staff who have helped with after school sports clubs this term, we could not offer the amount of opportunities to our students without your support!
In Term 3 there is still space in the Cricket and Hockey club, please register your child if they would like to take part in these after school activities.

Theme: Faster, Higher, Stronger
The Paris Olympics are almost upon us. Every four years, athletes from every country, from all walks of life and of all faiths and none come together to celebrate the remarkable nature of humanity. The Olympic podium is the highest point in sport, but those three medals do not represent the totality of the spirit that guides the Games, nor do they tell the story of the sacrifice, hard work and dedication of every participant.
This year, our ESF art exhibition is all about humans and their extraordinary power to achieve. Every single day, people in our schools, in our homes and in our communities are doing remarkable things and this is what we seek to celebrate in this show.
This need not just be about the people who have achieved something headline grabbing. It can also be about the people who do things to help us, to make our lives better and to support us in what we do. Who are the change makers? Who goes above and beyond for us? Who, in our lives, is dedicated to being faster, higher and stronger in the service of others? These are the people we seek to shine a light on.
Points to note for submission-
1) We accept drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, pixel art, digital art or photography that is relevant to the art exhibition theme.
