Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Many of you may already be aware that there was a serious incident involving one of our Year 6 students yesterday. While walking home from school near the Duchess of Kent Hospital, the student was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing. Thankfully, following surgery on his ankle, the student is now recovering well in hospital. The police are following up the incident.
Many thanks to our staff and the Kennedy School community who provided comfort and care until the ambulance and family members arrived.
The school and family have received well wishes for a speedy recovery. Thank you for your kindness. We have also become aware of videos and photos circulating in the media and community. The family has asked for privacy and not to forward these on. The images also are not appropriate for young children.
While this accident did not occur directly outside of school, it serves as a reminder to reinforce important safety measures for all students at all times.
When walking home, students should turn left from the school gate and cross only at designated crossing points.
Students should never run to the minibus stop or cross the street independently to the minibus stop, as the roads near our school can be extremely hazardous, especially during pickup and drop-off times.
Drivers must remain patient and not execute dangerous turns or overtake other cars outside of the school gates.
We ask all families to prioritise safety - hold your child's hand, put away devices, and look both ways multiple times - before crossing. Together, we can ensure our community remains safe and secure. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Final Games session
Next week, we will be running our final Games session for this year. From the week starting 29 April, we move on to the Term 3 swimming programme. To celebrate the end of the Games season, Year 1 to 3 will have a fun session rotating around a series of Games led by the teachers and coaches. Year 4 to 6 will take part in Inter-House Games where house teams will play against each other in a mini-tournament in one of the sports they have experienced this year. These sessions will take place as usual at the HKU Stanley Ho Sports Centre.
Hot Weather - Please wear a hat!
For protection from the sun, please ensure that your child brings a hat to school every day and encourage them to wear it for their Games session. Please make sure that students are not wearing any unnecessary cold weather clothing as we move into the summer.
Swimming Programme Starts Monday 29th April
Kennedy School’s Term 3 swimming caters for ALL children from Years 1 to 6.
Please click here for the Term 3 Swim Timetable
The aims of the programme:
• Water safety
• Learn to swim
• Stroke development
Each class will receive six swimming sessions taught by Aquakidz swimming coaches. In case of inclement weather, the swimming teachers will go to the classroom and teach water safety to the younger students and simple, practical water safety techniques to the older children.
We are also excited to announce there will be the first-ever Kennedy School Year 4 Swim Gala on Friday 7th June 8.30 am -12.30 pm. Please save the date in your diary.
Next Thursday, we will be welcoming author Suzanne Younan, who will speak with Year 1 and 2s about plastic pollution in our seas and its impact on marine life. If parents wish to purchase a copy of any of Suzanne's books, please scan the QR code on the poster below.
New Part-Time PTA Administrator
We would like to introduce a new member to our team, Georgina Adams! Read on for some words from her:
I moved to Hong Kong from the UK for a 6 month role - and that was 18 years ago! Hong Kong has become my new home and it continues to inspire me today. After nearly two decades, I still love discovering new places here and further afield in Asia.
I have a degree in Visual Communication and established my photography business in 2011. Be it from behind a camera or when curating events, I relish sharing unforgettable experiences with others and bringing communities together.
I am mum to a vibrant 11 year old daughter who keeps me on my toes! Hiking in the hills with my dog allows me time to dream up a range of fresh and creative ideas. I’m excited to put these into action in my new role at Kennedy School.
