Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I’m pleased to let you know that the Year 6 child who was involved in the road accident last week is recovering at home and we hope to have him back in school soon. It was a big shock for the family and for all of us. We are unfortunately still seeing some dangerous driving at drop off and pick up. Many thanks to parent advocates who are monitoring this and appealing to drivers to take more care. Please slow down and avoid hazardous turns by the school. Many thanks.
My Very Special Auntie Initiative
At the Year 3 to 6 assemblies this week, Catherine Gurtin, one of our fabulous parents who is the CEO of Pathfinders led a wonderful assembly about our Aunties (domestic helpers), the wonderful jobs they do to support us, understanding their backgrounds and identity and ways we can show appreciation. This was a great lead-in to our read-aloud sessions next week where the author of ‘My Special Auntie’, another talented parent, Joanna Bowers and the illustrator of the story will be present to launch this book which is written in both English and Chinese.
Your Auntie is invited to come to school next week!
As part of our Very Special Aunty initiative, we would like to invite Kennedy School Aunties to come to the school hall on Friday 3rd of May from 2.10-2.50 pm. They will also get to meet the author and illustrator of the My Special Auntie Book and will have a chance to mix and mingle with other Aunties over some refreshments. This will also be an opportunity to learn about some of the NGOs that support migrant workers.
If your Auntie would like to join us please fill in the RSVP here. This will help us set up and provide adequate catering.

Games have now finished
Despite the bad weather this week, we still managed to host our Interhouse Games Festival in Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 to conclude the Games programme. It was great to see our students enjoy sports across the four Houses in a friendly yet competitive environment. Let's hope for better weather for swimming starting next week.
Swimming starts next week
Kennedy School’s Term 3 swimming caters for ALL children from Years 1 to 6.
Please click here for the Term 3 Swim Timetable. Next week's schedule is as follows:
The aims of the programme are:
• Water Safety
• Learn to swim
• Stroke development
Each class will receive a total of six swimming sessions taught by Aquakidz swimming coaches. In case of inclement weather, the swimming teachers will go to the classroom and teach water safety to the younger students and simple, practical water safety techniques to the older children.
To be prepared for swimming every child requires:
Go Kennedy Cricket!
Good luck to our two cricket teams this coming Monday as they take part in the HKPSSA Island Cricket Tournament at HK Cricket Club. This will be the first of two cricket tournaments for our players as we look to defend our title as cricket champions from last year.
With the arrival of unsettled weather in Hong Kong, here is a reminder of the inclement weather procedures. This is also on the school website HERE.
As the deadline for ordering the Kennedy School Yearbook 2023-24 comes closer, we would like to remind parents to place their order by logging on to Gateway and signing the enotice. Note that enotices are sent to all student accounts so you may wish to double check your yearbook order in case you may have purchased more copies than you have intended. To check, see instructions below. Orders cannot be changed after Friday 17 May.

Yearband Led Dress Up Days - an update
Last Friday was our latest Yearband Led Dress Up day. Chosen by Year 5s, the whole school wore outfits matching the theme “Black and White.” Not only did we see a wide range of outfits, we raised over $10,025 for Year 5 to do something fun or purchase new items for their year group.
