Dear Parents and Caregivers,
On Tuesday evening, 78 of our Year 5 and 6 students participated in the ESF Primary Choral Concert at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. The concert featured 600 students from all ESF primary schools who sang a wonderful repertoire of songs. It was great to see the children enjoying their performance so much and they sounded amazing! Mr Ron and Ms Thea did an excellent job preparing the choir. During the concert, Mr. Ron played the bass guitar, Mr. Manx played the drums in the accompanying band, while Mrs. GG made a special guest appearance! What a wonderful night! A big thank you to the parents and staff for their support.

The Year 2 parents are going to love the 'Once Upon a Time in HK' show tomorrow. The school staff and students have been so impressed with the children's performance. Their confidence when singing, dancing, speaking their lines and entertaining us with their storytelling was really impressive. A big thank you to all the staff involved.
Swimming has started well, and now we're hoping for some nice weather! Congratulations to our sports teams who constantly receive great feedback about their sportsmanship.
My Special Auntie Initiative - Book Signing
We will have our read-aloud sessions of the book today and Friday, culminating in a special afternoon tea for our Aunties in the hall from 2.10-2.50 pm tomorrow. You can still purchase the ‘My Special Auntie Book’ - please refer to the previous newsletters. If you purchase before Friday, we will be able to have your child’s book signed by the author.
Farewell to Steven Chen
Tomorrow, we say farewell to Steven, our Bus Coordinator, as he and his family move abroad. Steven has always been utterly committed to ensuring the buses run efficiently and that students are safe. We thank Steven for his dedication and we wish him and his family well in the future.
Mr Billy Yeung will be our new Bus Coordinator and we have confidence that he will also continue the excellent service to our community.
Clothing for after school activities
Students should always wear their correct school uniform and black school shoes (not trainers) to school each day, except on PE days. If they have physical activities after school, they should bring their sports kit in a bag and staff will release them on the first bus bell to change as needed.
Student placements for 2024/25
At this time each year, we start to make arrangements for the student’s classes for the following year. Each year group will be reshuffled so that children get to know more children within their year group. This has worked very successfully in the past. It is not possible to meet parent requests for this given we have so many students. Please be reassured that we ask children to share a friendship list with us and we spend a lot of time considering the best placements for all of our students.
Our New Playground is Nearly Finished!
Excitement is growing as our much anticipated new playground on the Ground Floor is taking shape. The installation of the new wooden play equipment is completed and the flooring will begin to be laid this week. We anticipate that it will be completed by the middle of May. Although the new playground equipment is located on the Ground Floor, all Kennedy children will be given the opportunity to use it.
We would like to express our huge thanks to the PTA who helped to fund this playground with a very generous donation of $750,000. We would also like to thank PTA members Sonia Kelsall and Christina Boase for their valuable input throughout the design and planning stages. We are also extremely grateful for the artistic and creative input from the parents of Maelyn in Year 4. Inge Goudsmit and Roberto Requejo gave so generously of their time, support and ideas throughout the process and we are hugely thankful to them. Further details of an official opening ceremony of the playground will be shared soon.
Kind regards,
Brenda

PE - Movement Composition
In the gym, students are enjoying their final PE unit of the year - Movement Composition. Students are exploring and developing an understanding that movements can be linked together and refined to create a sequence of aesthetic movements. In this unit, students learn and showcase their abilities in activities linked to parkour and gymnastics to promote healthy habits leading to lifelong active living.
Congratulations Kennedy Cricketers
On Monday we took two Kennedy cricket teams to Hong Kong Cricket Club in the first of two HKPSSA cricket tournaments. This event involved all of the Hong Kong Island international schools and our A team was unbeaten on the day which will put them into the higher-seeded group in the tournament when all of the international schools play in June. Our players were also commended for their excellent sportsmanship throughout the day, well-done cricketers
Term 3 Swimming
The first week of swimming has been a great success and our Year One students have had their first taste of the Kennedy Swimming Programme. Please ensure that your child has all of the things they need for their swimming session, particularly a pair of goggles. Many students this week have come without them and we do not have enough spare goggles for everyone.
If your child is well enough to come to school they should be expected to swim. If your child is unable to swim for whatever reason, please share a note to the class teacher with the medical professional's advice.
