Dear Parents and Caregivers,
On Wednesday, the Year 5 students shared their civilisation projects with other members of the school which they found insightful and creative. Meanwhile, the Year 1s celebrated Who We Are with a wonderful carnival together with their parents. This led to an inquiry play afternoon full of fun learning activities. A big thank you to everyone involved in these two wonderful occasions.

Move Up Day
On Monday, June 24th, the students will have an opportunity to meet their new classmates and teachers. Your child will receive a hard copy introduction letter from their new teacher, outlining any stationery that needs to be purchased for Years 3 to 6. The letter will also provide details about PE days when they will wear their sports kit.
Do you have your child’s school uniform all sorted for next year?
As a reminder, the children will need to wear the full suite of the uniform next year which can be purchased at the uniform shop. NO old uniform can be worn. Please ensure your child has a pair of black school shoes, not trainers to wear as part of the uniform.
Staff Leavers
This year we have had no resignations from full-time contracted teaching staff for 2024/25. However, we have some teachers who were employed for a short-term contract and will be sadly leaving us at the end of this academic year.
We also have some of our wonderful Educational Assistants moving on at the end of this year.

Friendly Football - Kennedy Year 6 v West Island Year 7
On Wednesday afternoon, 3 teams of Year 6 boys and girls played friendly football matches against Year 7 students from West Island School. They played 7aside matches and were then mixed up for the final friendly match. This was a great experience for our students in preparation for them heading to secondary school after the summer break. They left HKU thoroughly looking forward to the sporting opportunities on offer at West Island School. Thank you to Mr Harding and the WIS Sports leaders making it such a successful afternoon.
Year 6 Swim Gala at French International School
On the same Wednesday, our Year 6 Swim Squad took part in the final HKPSSA event of the year - the Island Swimming Gala. All of our swimmers performed really well in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly events as well as relay races against other international schools such as GSIS, DBIS and FIS. Congratulations to Sofia Huang on her first place placing in all of her races. Our girls freestyle relay swimmers also won first place. For the full results please see the document here. Thank you to our swim coaches from Aquakidz training the students this term.
We are exploring the possibility of starting a new bus service from East or Central Kowloon next academic year. If you are interested in this route, please complete the survey. If there is enough interest in this route, we will work with the bus company to evaluate if running the route is feasible. The deadline for completing the survey is Tuesday 25 June 2024.

This is a reminder of the housekeeping messages shared in last week’s newsletter:
As the academic year draws to a close, we have some important housekeeping messages to share. Please read these carefully and take note of the various deadlines:
1. Student Work on Seesaw
The school will begin working on the new Seesaw classes for the new academic year in the second week of July.
This means that from this time onwards, the current data on Seesaw will no longer be available. If you would like to download your child's work from Seesaw, please follow the instructions provided in the link below and ensure you download the work on or before Friday 5 July 2024.
How to Save and Download Student Work
2. Gateway & ESF App Access for Graduating students and those leaving Kennedy School
For those leaving Kennedy School at the end of June, please remember to download your child's end-of-year reports from the VLE. Please also take action on any balance remaining in your child’s eWallet in the Payment system. This can be done on Gateway. You will lose access to both the Gateway and the ESF App by Friday 5 July 2024.
3. Library
All library books should to be returned to school by tomorrow (21 June).
4. House Points
Please remind your child/ren to bring in their house points back to school. These tokens are awarded to the children by their teachers throughout the year to encourage positive action and behaviour. These house points are tallied each week by the House Captains and the winner for the year will be announced next Friday morning.
5. Lost Property
Please check the lost property boxes in front of reception for missing items. There are many swim kits and water bottles without names. Any item left after the school year ends will be disposed of.
It’s never a dull moment with the “Adventure Playground.” still making us happy and strong.

We Need You!
The Kennedy School community is very happy to volunteer and with so many fun-filled events coming up this school year, we need…
You!
One event we are very excited to share is the “Festive Fair.” This year we are holding the fair on the 15th November and are already starting to prepare for an amazing event.
We love it when everyone gets involved, so do let us know if you/your company would like to donate items to use in an auction or other arranged activity, if you have a business you’d like to showcase or if you would like to be behind the scenes! We would love to hear from you.
In the past, we’ve had photographers, bar/restaurant owners, face painters, magicians, bakers, chefs, artists all help out. If you would like to join our army of volunteers, please let us know how or if you’d simply just like to put your hand up to help on the night, this would also be very helpful. (it is a lot of fun!) Please email gadams@kennedy.edu.hk.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT.
Calling All Parents:
Class Parent
As we prepare for the end of a wonderful year at Kennedy School we start to plan the start of a fabulous new one. We are looking for volunteers to act as class parents for the Year 2024/2025. The role of class parent is one for someone who loves to connect with the class and the smooth running of activities. The role is greatly appreciated by children, staff and other parents. If you are interested in volunteering for this rewarding role please click here. If you would like more information please contact pta@kennedy.edu.hk.
Pre-Loved Uniforms
Thank you for all your preloved uniforms, we are still collecting them until the end of the school year. Please drop them into the PTA office so we can offer this for a small donation to other parents or use in school projects. (The PTA office is open most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 8.15 am to 3.00 pm.) Reuse, reduce, recycle.
