See You In School Next Wednesday
We are excited to welcome you to our Celebration of Learning and 3-Way Conference next Wednesday, 2 October 2024. Based on parent feedback, we have decided to hold these meetings in person this term. We think it will be a positive change to help build early connections and partnerships with families.
During the conference, you will meet your child's teacher, see their classroom, and discuss their progress. Your child will also join the conversations so they can take ownership of their next steps. We will provide insights into your child's strengths and areas for growth, and explore ways we can work together to support their learning. Our senior leadership team will also be available that day and we look forward to catching up with you then.
Please refer to previous newsletters for more details.
Warm regards,
Brenda

We look forward to receiving donations of items on the following dates:
15-18 October: Bring 6 or more items (Cuddly toys, notepads, etc. See poster below for details)

Calling all Year 3/4 Girls!
We are really pleased to see that most of our ECA sports clubs are full this term. However, we still have some spaces in the Year 3/4 girls football club on Tuesday mornings. The girls football programme is continuing to grow and it is something we are very proud of. The Year 5/6 football club has 19 girls and we would love to develop football and sports skills in our aspiring younger girls. Please get in touch with me at pcrompton@kennedy.edu.hk if you would like to register your daughter for the club.
Extracurricular Activities (ECAs) cancellations
Due to the wet weather this week, we had to cancel the Y3/4 Football on Tuesday morning. This is a reminder for parents to check your messages before leaving home, especially when the weather looks unstable. Students should not be dropped off and left unsupervised at school. As a matter of duty of care and to ensure proper supervision, students should be dropped off at HKU Pitch 2 and handed over to the member of staff responsible for the club. Due to the large number of students involved in a sports club, there is no indoor provision to take care of students before school in the event of a cancellation.
We aim to give everyone as much notice as possible if there is a need to cancel any of our clubs. As mentioned previously, we will let everyone know by 6.15 am on the morning if a before-school club is cancelled.
Kennedy Swimming Programme
Your child’s water safety swim lesson will take place in your child’s final swim session of this term. For next week, this will be the Monday swimming groups.
Water safety is a very important component to our swimming programme where the students are introduced to how it feels to be fully clothed when swimming. The children will also experience basic life saving techniques to help them if they fall into a body of water.
The programme is designed to allow the students to experience how their swimming ability may change when in water with heavier clothes on. They will experience changes in the way they float, how much more tired they become as well as survival techniques to use IF they were to be in water fully clothed, such as falling off a boat, being caught in a flash flood, accidentally falling into a pool, etc.
Students need to bring in the following clothes IN ADDITION to their usual swim kit:
Y2: white t-shirt (for the first lesson of the week only)
Y3 & 4: light coloured baggy shorts and white long sleeved T-shirt
Y5 & 6: light coloured tracksuit/pyjama bottoms and white long sleeved T-shirt.
Only white or light coloured clothing will be permitted in the pool as dark colours react with the chlorine.
STUDENTS WILL BE UNDER STRICT SUPERVISION BY EXPERIENCED AND FULLY ACCREDITED TEACHERS FROM AQUAKIDZ AT ALL TIMES.
Please refer to the swimming timetable to ensure your child is prepared on the correct day.
