Clubs starting after mid-term break
We look forward to starting two new clubs after the holiday. On Wednesday mornings, we will begin the pre-season running and multi-sports clubs.
Running Club
Registered students in the running club should meet at the running track at HKU in their Kennedy PE kit at 7.15 am with all of their belongings ready for the school day. After the session finishes, we will all come back to school together in time for the regular school day. This club is available for Year 4-6 students and there are still limited spaces available. Please contact me if you would like your child to join the club at pcrompton@kennedy.edu.hk.
Multi-Sports Club
Year 2/3 multi-sports club will also start on Wednesday’s 3.00 to 4.00 pm after the holiday. Registered students should meet outside the gym in their sports kit ready to participate. As this club is aimed at our younger students, we will play a wide variety of ball games including football, basketball, netball dodgeball, benchball, castleball and many more. This club is full.
Let’s Go Girls!
We are very pleased to see an increase in girls' participation in our morning sports clubs. Our Year 5 and 6 girls team are training well for the upcoming Peak School Girls Football Tournament on Saturday 19th October. If you would like your daughter to take part please get in touch to register for the club.
Swimming Messages
Year 6 Swim Gala
On Friday 18th October, we are very proud and excited to host our Year 6 swimming gala this year and look forward to an exciting morning of swimming participation, competition and house rivalry. The swimming gala is part of the Year 6 swimming programme run by Aquakidz in close co-operation with the PE Department.
All Year 6 parents are invited to come and watch the Year 6 Swim Gala at HKU Stanley Ho Swimming Pool. The students have been selected for their races based on their abilities shown in this term's swimming block as recommended by the Aquakidz swim coaches. Races will take place from approximately 9.00 am to 12.15 pm.
As the students are scoring points for their House, we are encouraging the students to wear swim hats in their House colours. The race list is being finalised and will be shared with the students after the holidays.
Students will wear their regular swimming suit and long hair must be tied up. Students will need a snack, water bottle and towel. Sunscreen should be applied before school.
Kennedy Swimming lessons
Please remember that your child’s water safety swim lesson will take place in your child’s final swim session of this term. Please look carefully at the swimming schedule for the last two weeks of swimming as this involves make-up sessions for lessons cancelled because of bad weather. Some classes will be swimming on different days and times from their usual session.
Water safety is a very important component of our swimming programme where the students are introduced to how it feels to be fully clothed when swimming. The children will also experience basic life-saving techniques to help them if they fall into a body of water.
The programme is designed to allow the students to experience how their swimming ability may change when in water with heavier clothes on. They will experience changes in the way they float, how much more tired they become as well as survival techniques to use IF they were to be in the water fully clothed, such as falling off a boat, being caught in a flash flood, accidentally falling into a pool, etc.
Students need to bring in the following clothes IN ADDITION to their usual swim kit:
Year 2: white T-shirt (for the first lesson of the week only)
Year 3 & 4: light coloured baggy shorts and white long sleeved T-shirt
Year 5 & 6: light coloured tracksuit/pyjama bottoms and white long sleeved T-shirt.
Only white or light coloured clothing will be permitted in the pool as dark colours react with the chlorine.
STUDENTS WILL BE UNDER STRICT SUPERVISION BY EXPERIENCED AND FULLY ACCREDITED TEACHERS FROM AQUAKIDZ AT ALL TIMES.
Please refer to the swimming timetable to ensure your child is prepared on the correct day.

Thank you Mr Tse
This week in PE, we say goodbye to our student teacher Kai Cho Tse. Mr Tse has completed his final block of teaching from the University of Sunderland and has made a big impression on our students. Thank you Kai Cho for all of your efforts in helping to promote active healthy lifestyles in our students. We wish you good luck for the future!
Coffee Morning
We held a wonderful Coffee Morning last Friday. Many of you met other parents and discussed lots of ideas of what you would like to see at the Coffee Mornings. We are curating these ideas and will feed back to you after the term break. We thank Tasneem Badri for her refresher information on Gateway. If you have any questions about Gateway, please email epayment@kennedy.edu.hk.
