Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Outdoor Education
Year 4 and 5 have now completed their outdoor camping experiences with huge success. A big thanks to Rudi Dray for his organisation and participation in both camps! Also a huge thanks to Matt King (Year 4 leader) and Colleen Osborne (Year 5 leader) who led the camps superbly along with enthusiastic school staff who went the extra mile!
We have many trips planned to enrich student learning over the next few weeks - Year 2s to Road Safety Town, Year 3s to Hong Kong Park, Year 5s to Mui Wo and Year 6s to camp.
Diwali Celebrations and Sharing
We had wonderful Diwali assemblies this week with staff and student performances. This was a wonderful opportunity to learn about this special celebration and to showcase the talents of our students.
Festive Fair
Please read the information below in the PTA section. We look forward to seeing you for an evening of fun, entertainment, shopping and delicious food. Don’t miss this amazing community event where we all come together to celebrate the Kennedy School family.
Parent Information Workshops
We have a great range of parent information workshops coming up. Please mark the dates in your diary and bookmark this link. It will be updated regularly with zoom links and information.
Parent Information Workshop Series
The first Zoom session will be next Tuesday 12 November and the focus will be on how we teach Reading and Writing in Years 1-3 and how you can support your child at home. This will be followed by a zoom conversation about smartphones and smart device on 28 November where we reflect on the popular book “The Anxious Generation” by Jonathan Haidt. During the talk, we will share the results from our recent survey titled "Smart Devices in the Kennedy Community" and review the main ideas of the book and some other viewpoints in the space. We hope to see many of you online then!
Parent Consultations
Look out for an APP message from us on Monday about booking online parent consultations.

Festive Fair Quiet Room
This year, we will have a Quiet Room for children or adults who need to step away from the main action. It will have some quiet sensory activities, we recommend bringing ear defenders if you require them for the fair. To help us plan, we would appreciate pre-registering if you foresee anyone in your family, including siblings from outside of KS, who may need to spend time in this room.
Registration for Quiet Room: Sign Up

Games
All students across the school have now experienced their first Games session at Kennedy.
Please remember that on your child’s Games day the students need to wear their PE kit the whole day, just as in PE. The weather is still quite hot on the astroturf pitches so please ensure that your child has a hat and water bottle.
Games schedule for each year group:
Congratulations Kennedy Footballers
Yesterday, we took 4 football teams to the HKPSSA Football Tournament at Tseung Kwan O Football Training Centre. Our 2 boys and 2 girls teams performed brilliantly and played with great spirit on the day.
Our boys A team were crowned A grade champions after a thrilling penalty shoot out against Chinese International School (CIS) in the final. The boys B team were also undefeated and were comfortable champions of the B grade tournament.
The girls A team also made the final and lost narrowly in a close match also against CIS. Our girls B team also gained valuable experience of tournament football for the first time which will bode well for the future.
Thank you to all of the coaches for your help in training our players and for your preparation and efforts on the day, the early morning football training is definitely reaping the benefits.
