Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Gong Xi Fa Cai Xin Nian Kuai Le 恭喜发财 新年快乐
Kung Hei Fat Choi Sun Nin Fai Lok 恭喜發財 新年快樂
Tomorrow will be the finale of our Lunar New Year celebrations as we welcome the Year of the Snake! We encourage students to wear Chinese-inspired clothing or bright colours to school. Please ensure your child is dressed in layers for comfort as it gets very sunny in our playgrounds.
We’ve all enjoyed the CNY festivities so far, including Monday’s carnival. Many thanks to families for their donations that day. We raised $9520 which has been put towards the celebrations. Photos of all our Chinese New Year events have been uploaded into the photo album below. Please review these at your leisure.

This informative Zoom session held on our first day back will support parents in navigating the digital world with their children. The panel will explore key aspects of responsible technology use, including:
Preparing for the Digital Age: Considerations before introducing devices and open conversations about healthy digital habits
Understanding the Landscape: The pros and cons of gaming and navigating the evolving world of AI
A Glimpse into the Future: Exploring potential technological advancements in the next decade
The webinar will provide practical insights and tools to empower parents in supporting their child's positive relationship with technology.
Tuesday 11 February - West Island School Curriculum and Pastoral Focus: This workshop will provide an overview of the school's academic and curriculum. The West Island Leadership team will also highlight the pastoral care system and answer any questions you have included in the RSVP form. Parents of Year 3-6 students are invited to attend.
Thursday 13 February - Skills for Learning: In this workshop, we will share a quick overview of current research on skills and attributes that our students will need in our ever-changing world. Year 6 Camp |
On Saturday we had lots of girls and boys take part in the ESF Cross Country Challenge at ESF KGV School. This was a fantastic way to kickstart our running event this term and we had distance races for all ESF students in Year 3 to 6. Year 3 and Year 4 students ran 1.2 km and our Year 5 and 6 students ran 2.4 km. Well done to everyone that took part in this event.
Congratulations to our first place winners:
Abby Wilson Year 4 Girls Race
Rikiya Kikutake Year 5 Boys Race
Almos Szentes Year 6 Boys Race
Congratulations Kennedy Young Footballers
On Monday 20 January, we took a group of girls and boys to Kings Park to represent Kennedy School in the HKPSSA Year 3 / 4 Football Tournament against other international schools in Hong Kong. Our girls team played very well and finished a respectable 5th place out of 9 teams. Our boys team were undefeated throughout the day and were the overall winners. It is clear to see that the training our students put in last term has reaped it’s rewards, well done Kennedy footballers!

It has been great to have our sports clubs back this week. Please note that there are still spaces available in some of our Term 2 sports clubs.
Our Hockey club will train on Wednesday mornings with a Valley Hockey coach and our very own Hong Kong Hockey player Mrs Harris. This club is now open to boys and girls in Year 4, 5 and 6. In this club we are training the students for our team that will play in the HKPSSA Interschool Hockey tournament, so please sign up on Gateway!

CNY Celebrations
Art by Isabella Zanin 3L
The week has been absolutely buzzing with Lunar New Year celebrations. There have been Assemblies, songs, dances, and the CNY Carnival. We’re looking forward to the Lion Dance blessings, sponsored by the PTA, to round off the week with a flourish of good luck for all! Wishing everyone “Kung Hei Fat Choi” from all of the PTA and thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you in the year of the snake!
Quiz Night
Don’t forget to book your tickets! We have room for 20 teams, but places are already filling up. There will be food, facts, fun and fabulous prizes! Dust off those pockets of obscure knowledge in your brain - it’s their time to shine.
Date: Friday, 28 February 2025
Time: 6:30 to 10.00 pm
Venue: El Charro, Cyberport
This is an adults only event, open to Kennedy School families and their friends. Feel free to bring your brainiac buddies, but prepare them to be stumped by a few specific Kennedy School questions!
Teams are groups of 6. You can gather your own team or come along and we’ll match you up with new friends to form a team.
Seeking Silent Auction Prizes
We are still looking for donations of silent auction prizes for our Quiz Night. Think big ticket items that will inspire a fun (but quiet) bidding war. Dining vouchers, gift baskets, unique art pieces -- we're open to all suggestions! Showcase your talents or promote your business by donating. Funds raised will go towards the PTA and all the cool things we do. E-mail gadams@kennedy.edu.hk with information about your donation.
West Island School Bazaar 8 March 2025
Our up-the-road neighbors and sibling school, West Island, is having their annual bazaar. Open to all, it sounds like a great chance to visit their campus, see their community in action, and have a great time.
PTA Volunteer Community
Volunteering is a way to share in the joy of our children’s school years and to model to them how we can work together with others to make good things happen.✨
Whether it's for just ten minutes here or there, for a few hours, or for a day, every little bit makes a positive difference to our community and our children’s learning and school life experience.
Everyone is welcome, and it’s more fun when we do it together! You can add your name to our Volunteer Community, HERE.
PTA Office Hours
PTA is open from Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 3.00 pm. If you wish to contact PTA, please email PTA@kennedy.edu.hk or Tel: 2579 5699.
