Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Sports Day Congratulations
Well done to all on the amazing Sports Days! I think the whole school was happy with an overall win by the Lions after 14 years! Many thanks to our PE team Paul Crompton and Leo Van Den Borgaerde for their organisation and planning and to all the parent volunteers for their support! Congratulations to all!
Dress in Red, White and Pink tomorrow - Dress Up Day
We look forward to seeing everyone in their Red, White and Pink outfits tomorrow in support of the Year 1s who will be using the funds for art workshops with renown Art Therapist Katie Flowers. Please bring a $20 donation to support this initiative.
Save the Date! Celebration of Learning and Student-Led Conference Day
We are holding our second Celebration of Learning day of the year on Tuesday, March 18. On this day, parents and students are invited to school together to participate in their child's learning journey. Please look out for an invitation soon to book a session during the day.
The session will consist of a 10-15 minute conference with your child and their teacher to discuss how things are going. Where possible, your child will lead some of the conversation. There will be further learning to explore in the classroom with your child, and they will also take the lead in showing you around the school to see their specialist teachers and other areas they love. The whole session will take about 50 minutes, or you can stay longer if you wish.
There will be no regular classes or buses on this day. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Parent Information Workshops
We appreciate the strong attendance at our recent parent workshop series covering; Technology, Skills for Learning, West Island School and many others. These workshops are designed to address parent feedback requesting more information on supporting your children's education. We look forward to sharing this evening’s session about Skills for the Future (see Zoom details below) and encourage you to save the dates for our upcoming Maths series in March. Further details will be shared soon.

Teacher Trainees
We are excited to welcome four university student teachers for six weeks starting next week. They will be doing their placements here at Kennedy School, learning the skills they need to become qualified teachers. Our teachers enjoy mentoring these trainees and we are really proud of that. They will be working in the following classes alongside the classroom teacher and educational assistant. Rebecca Miller in 1C, Amanda Tong in 2J, Helen Chan in 2R, and Samantha Pearce in 5M. We're also training some of our own educational assistants to become teachers, which is another way we're happy to give back.
Have a lovely weekend.
Warm regards,
Brenda

Dress Up Day Tomorrow
Inspired by Valentine’s Day, tomorrow is a Red, Pink & White-Themed Dress-Up Day for the whole school led by our Year 1s. We ask for a donation of $20 to raise money that will go towards a gorgeous workshop for Year 1 by Katie Flowers, a celebrated art therapist in Hong Kong. See some of her artwork with students below:

Don’t forget! West Island School Bazaar 8 March 2025
Our up-the-road neighbours and sibling school, West Island School, is having their annual Bazaar. Open to all, it is a great opportunity to visit their campus, see their community in action, and have a great time.
Who doesn’t like a Spring Clean? Donations of Cooking Utensils
PTA are looking to refresh the cooking station at school, next to the art room. If you’re having that spring clean and are looking for someone who would be willing to take your preloved cooking utensils and items, we will happily give them a new home. Be it rice cookers, pots and pans, utensils, chopping boards, baking trays, or muffin trays, we’ll take them all!
Newsletter Language Buddies
We’re looking for a trilingual volunteer or two who would be available each week to chat families through the weekly School Newsletter in Mandarin or Cantonese. Please get in touch if you’d be happy to help. We want all our families to feel included and able to follow the busy rundowns we share every week. Please contact the PTA office if you’d be happy to help: PTA@kennedy.edu.hk
PTA Volunteer Community
Volunteering is a way to share in the joy of our children’s school years and to model to them how we can work together with others to make good things happen.✨
Whether it's for just ten minutes here or there, for a few hours, or for a day, every little bit makes a positive difference to our community and our children’s learning and school life experience.
Everyone is welcome, and it’s more fun when we do it together! You can add your name to our Volunteer Community HERE.
PTA Office Hours
PTA is open from Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 3.00 pm. If you wish to contact PTA, please email PTA@kennedy.edu.hk or Tel: 2579 5699.

Good luck Kennedy runners!
This Saturday, 40 boys and girls from Year 3 to Year 6 will be taking part in the HKPSSA Cross Country Race at Chinese International School. The students have been training hard during running club in preparation for this event, which is the second of three races this term. Good luck to all of the runners! And please keep Saturday 15 March free in your diary for our final event.
Individual Pursuits
In our PE lessons, we will be introducing the PSPE unit of inquiry - Individual Pursuits. This is an excellent opportunity for students to build their physical literacy skills and improve performance by practising skills linked to activities such as:

Throwing Games
Basketball/ Netball / Football Shooting
Football skills - keepy ups / dribbling
We are super excited to get the new bicycles out for our younger students and we look forward to helping students learn this vital skill.
It is with pleasure that we announce the Celebration of Music concert for 2025.
It will be held on Tuesday 11 March in the school hall at 4.30 pm and feature the school's very own Choir, Orchestra, Rock Band and soloists. Please mark this event in your calendar!
We are doing things slightly different this year and opening up some performance slots for soloists. If your child is interested in performing, please get in contact with me by Monday 17 February 5.00 pm at rsaw@kennedy.edu.hk or vtang@kennedy.edu.hk. Auditions will happen next week and decisions will be made quickly. Selection will be based on:
musical ability for their age,
overall fit for the concert, and
enthusiasm and commitment to perform.
We look forward to seeing you all there.
Kennedy School is very proud to present a fabulous momento of the experiences and memories our children have had this academic year. The Kennedy School Yearbook is packed full of children’s work, entertaining photographs, pictures of school-wide events and students’ amazing achievements. Every child is featured in the book as a celebration of school life at Kennedy School. Each hardcover Yearbook can be purchased for $305.
Pre-orders for the book have now begun. You can order your copy/ies now by logging into Gateway and completing the eNotice there. Sales will close on Friday 9 May 2025, after which, the books will be printed according to the orders placed. While this gives everyone plenty of time to place their order, it also means that no books can be purchased after that date.
When the books are ready, they will be delivered to the students' classrooms in the latter half of June 2025.
