Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It's been great to see students return to school in the warm weather, with Year 6 currently enjoying their camp in Sai Kung. The school environment has been calm, and students are engaged in learning, playing with their friends, starting new clubs and going on some excursions outside of school.
Student Behaviour
This week's assembly focused on students making positive choices, being principled and caring, and understanding the difference between what they can and cannot control.
For Years 3 to 5, we discussed the elements within their control: their attitude, manners, words, actions, and effort. This will also be shared with Year 6 upon their return. Here is the video link for your reference. It is a helpful video for parents, too, as it puts the responsibility onto the children and stresses that it’s up to them to make a difference!
In Years 1 and 2, the focus has been on making good choices, being principled (doing the right thing, even when no one is looking), and using their WITTS for solving minor problems independently. Here are some resources we use.
Educational Assistant Updates
Welcome to Blake Nari, a new Education Assistant supporting 4C and Mrs Clinch.
Zoom Workshop - Smartphone Free Childhood HK
"Smartphone Free Childhood HK" workshop on Tuesday, 29 April at 6.00 pm. See details in the section below and RSVP by signing up for this exciting event here.
Year 6 Parent Coffee Morning with WIS next Friday, 2 May
Year 6 parents are invited for a coffee morning hosted at Kennedy School on 2 May at 8.30 am to find out more about the Year 6 transition to West Island School. Please sign up here, and we look forward to seeing you.
Hats, Hats, Hats!
Please ensure your child brings a hat to school every day. As the days are getting hotter again, we are seeing a growing number of children not protected from the sun. Please help us keep your child safe from sunburn by ensuring they have a school hat with them. Please order the hat or other school uniform items online or visit the store.
Yearbook 2024/25
This is a reminder that the deadline for ordering this year’s Yearbook is Friday 9 May. The books are printed to order, so copies cannot be purchased after this date. To order, sign the enotice on Gateway. Once the books are printed, they will be sent to your child’s classroom in the last 2 weeks of June.
Warm regards,
Brenda

Tuesday, 29 April 2025, 6.00 to 7.00 pm
Please sign up HERE.
This is a reminder of the inclement weather procedures in the event of typhoons and rain signals. Please review the information HERE.
From Friday 25 April (tomorrow!) to Monday 5 May, everyone at Kennedy School is invited to join the ESF City Nature Challenge, an inter-school challenge to document wildlife around Hong Kong. You can upload as many photos as you like, as a family or when you are out and about. Our aim is for the Kennedy School community to log 100 observations (photos) onto the iNaturalist app for this inter ESF challenge! The data that we collect will also support Hong Kong as it pitches itself against other international cities in the annual global City Nature Challenge.
Learn more about the ESF City Nature Challenge here! Download the iNaturalist App (Google Playstore, IOS), join the ESF Kennedy School City Nature Challenge 2025 group and start logging your finds! We will be watching closely to see who logs the most photos! Let’s celebrate the wonderful environment we live in!
Swimming is coming soon!
The Term 3 swimming programme will start with the first sessions on Friday, 2 May. Here are some important details about our swimming programme:
Please check your child’s swimming lesson schedule on the timetable here.
If the pool cannot be used in inclement weather, younger students will learn water safety, while older students will learn practical water safety techniques.
We recommend that your child brings his/her swimming kit on every swimming day, regardless of the weather.
To be prepared for swimming, each child will need:
On swimming days, students may wear their PE kit to school to save time changing.
Students not taking part in the swimming lessons will be given tasks assigned by their class teacher.
Movement Composition Unit
As we kick off the final term, our focus in PE will be on Movement Composition. In this unit, students will develop a deeper understanding of how to control their body and recognize that movements can be linked together and refined to create a sequence of aesthetic movements. Students will have the opportunity to explore how movements can be in response to stimuli or performance elements and can communicate feelings, emotions and ideas.
Extracurricular Activities (ECAs) Information
To make the most of the slightly cooler weather at the beginning of this term, many of our sports clubs have already started. Please check your child’s club dates on Gateway carefully so that your child makes the most of the opportunities. Please also let the teacher in charge of the club know if your child will not be attending a session. This term, we still have a few spaces left in the Year 4/5 Spirit Leaders Dance and Movement Club and also in the Year 4/5 Boys and Girls Football Club.
Please contact me or Mrs Badri tbadri@kennedy.edu.hk if you would like to register your child for either of these clubs.
We hope everyone had a fun and restful break and is ready for Term 3!
Red Cross First Aid Course
Our first PTA Red Cross First Course was a resounding success. We had 14 people pass the course! Congratulations to all our newly-certified first-aiders.
