Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What a fantastic week it's been at school! Our students have enjoyed some wonderful excursions, and the classrooms and playgrounds are bustling with learning and play.
Firstly, many thanks to the PTA, students and parents for making Staff Appreciation Day such a delightful surprise on Monday. We loved all the heartfelt messages and delicious contributions that filled our hearts as well as our bellies!
We are also excited about the new Bus button on our ESF app. This means streamlined bus management that ensures that all parties are in sync with students’ bus attendance plans. For everyone to be coordinated, we ask that bus attendance messages be sent by 12 noon on the day.
Visual Guidance on how to use the Bus button on the ESF App.
Another huge highlight on our calendar was last Friday's Year 3 Art Exhibition. So many parents agreed on the incredible quality of the artwork! We were so proud to see the passion with which the students spoke about their chosen forms, materials, and the artists who inspired their creations. The displays were so professional, it was like walking into an art gallery! A big congratulations to our entire Year 3 team and everyone else who helped make it such a success!
Speaking of hard work, our Year 6 students are focused on their exhibition and we are excited to see this come together in the Year 6 exhibition which will be shared with parents and students next month.
Can you believe we only have 27 school days left this year? We've been talking to the students about making the absolute most of every single one of those days – in their attitude, their words, their actions, their manners, and their effort! Please take a moment to chat with them about this important message.
Ahead of the summer holidays, we will be holding our 4th and final Technology Parent Webinar of the year. Kennedy School Innovation Coach, Rory Douglas and gaming expert, Arthur Fang will be discussing screen time, sleeping habits and look at how businesses and gaming platforms such as Roblox hook childrens' attention. The team will also be sharing practical parental advice on establishing healthy summer routines for technology use.
Please sign up to the webinar here. We look forward to seeing you online.

Hats, Hats, Hats!
We are getting more and more children covering up with hats and only a few that aren’t now. Please ensure your child has a hat to wear at school. Please order the hat or other school uniform items online or visit the store. Note both hats are unisex.
Warm regards,
Brenda

Hip Hip Hooray to Dylan Ko (1C)! On Friday, 16 May, he joined our staffing team and became our Receptionist for the Day. Mr. Ko started the day helping the PTA collect special notes for Staff Appreciation Day and helped with a variety of important tasks around the school. Thank you to Dylan’s family for supporting the PTA and coming in with the winning bid at the Silent Auction to provide such a unique experience!

Friday 23 May: Colour me beautiful:
Don’t forget Year 4-Led Dress Up Day tomorrow on Friday 23 May. We encourage the whole school to come dressed in their favourite colour for a $20 donation which will go to Year 4’s chosen activity, an Art Workshop with Hong Kong artist, El McColl. We are looking forward to seeing a rainbow of colour at school!
Staff Appreciation Day
This week, we celebrated Staff Appreciation Day with a luscious spread in the staff room. We had generous donations of delicious savouries and mouth-watering cakes, beautiful messages from parents and children and some chilled vibes to say a big thank you to all our staff. We would like to send out a heartfelt THANK YOU! to all the gorgeous treats that were baked and cooked by parents and children of our community. We are so grateful to have such an amazing community who really help us in thanking the staff.

Cricket News
On Wednesday, two Kennedy cricket teams played in the rearranged HKPSSA Island Cricket Tournament at Happy Valley Sports Ground. This was a great opportunity for our students to play for the first time together against other schools. Our A team won against French International School and were unlucky in very close defeats against Quarry Bay School, DBIS and CIS. Our B team had a similar day with one win and two defeats in very hot and sunny conditions. This means our cricketers qualify for the HKPSSA Bowl event at Kings Park next week in the Island and Kowloon Championships. Well done team! And thank you to Mr Lynch for helping the cricketers.
Aquathon Teams
Today, our aquathon athletes took part in the HKPSSA Island Schools Aquathon event at Kellett School. This was a great chance for our students to compete against other students in the swimming and running event. Our students have had the chance to put into practise the skills learned in the morning training sessions with the swim coaches and Mr Bogaerde and Mr Tremmel. This will be a great experience for our Island and Kowloon event on Saturday 7th June.
Good luck to our Racket Sports Players
Tomorrow (Friday) we will host the HKPSSA Island Schools Racket Sports event at Kennedy School and HKU. This will involve 28 boys and girls competing in mixed doubles of tennis, pickleball and table tennis. This friendly competition is a great way to give our racket sport lovers the opportunity to represent our school in matches against DBIS, CIS, ESF Quarry Bay, Glenealy, Kellett and GSIS. Good luck to all of our players involved!
Recent Kennedy Sports Achievements
Recently, our students have been busy in weekend competitions across many sports. Congratulations to the following students:
Youning Li (4R) came runner up last weekend in the HK Tennis junior competition 2025. This achievement represents all of the hard work and dedication in training as he built on his performance from last year's quarter final defeat. Well done Youning!
Elodie Siu (4K) participated in the Harry Wright 50th Anniversary Summer Charity Swimming Gala last weekend and won the gold medal in 25m backstroke and 25m breaststroke. Elodie also took the silver medal in 25m freestyle! She is really happy with her results and we are all very proud of your achievement. Well done Elodie!
This Sunday, Mr Ron would like to invite the Kennedy School community to an afternoon of fun and music to support the earthquake relief efforts in Myanmar.
Ron grew up in Myanmar and left for New Zealand when he was 7. Much of his family still lives in Yangon and Mandalay, which were badly affected by the earthquake of 28 March 2025.
There will be band performances from our own school Rock Band, staff band as well as a fun lucky draw. It's all for a great cause! We hope to see many of you there!
