Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It’s been another exciting week of learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Learning This Week
Our Year 1 students enjoyed excursions to Forest Schools, and we performed well at the HKPSSA cricket finals yesterday. We’ve also had 2 visiting artists in school, working creatively with our Year 4 and Year 5 students funded by PTA Dress-Up Days. 16 WIS students have been with us for the week, doing work experience, supporting our students and gaining valuable insights into how primary schools work.
This Friday is our ESF-wide Transition Day. Our Year 6 students will spend a full day at their ESF secondary school, preparing for their move up to secondary school. On the same day, many K2 Kindergarten students will be visiting their Year 1 classrooms here before joining us properly in August. It’s all go!
A huge congratulations to our student authors on their latest version of the Kennedy Today Newspaper. We love reading each edition - do take a look.

New Calendar
An additional EDB-designated school holiday has been added on 8 December 2025, in light of the Legislative Council election scheduled for 7 December 2025. Please see the updated School Calendar here:
Important Safety Drills: Evacuation and Lockdown
Over the next three weeks, our school will be conducting an unannounced evacuation drill. This is standard practice for this time of year and helps us ensure everyone knows what to do in a real emergency. We had a very successful planned evacuation drill in Term 1, and these unannounced drills help us further refine our response.
In addition to evacuation drills, we will also be practising our lockdown procedures. During a lockdown, instead of leaving the building, students and staff will remain in their classrooms, lock the doors, and stay calm and quiet until an "all clear" signal is given. These drills are a crucial part of our safety protocols, too.
To ensure students understand these procedures and feel safe during the lockdown drill, our staff will have scripts to explain what is happening and will answer any questions. Our goal is to make sure everyone is prepared and knows how to react calmly and effectively in any situation.
Technology Update
This week, we ran our fourth and final parent webinar titled “Hooks and Habit Loops: Getting Ready for Summer”. We looked at the effect of dopamine, common issues when dealing with children and the dopamine pathway. We considered some healthy summer shifts we might make during the summer, a time when device usage usually rises. For a full recording of the session, please check our Digital Citizenship - Community Documentation folder.
ESF Bus Button
This is a reminder to use our ESF App Bus button which streamlines bus management and ensures all parties are in sync with students’ bus attendance plans. To maintain coordination, please send all bus attendance messages via the app by 12 noon on the day of travel.

Swimming Timetable
Here is next week’s swimming timetable.

Diary Date - Year 4 Swim Gala
The Year 4 Swim Gala will take place on Friday 20 June from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon at HKU Henry Fok Swimming Pool (opposite our school). All parents of Year 4 swimmers are welcome to attend.
Cricket News
Yesterday, our Kennedy Cricket Team A won the HKPSSA Cricket Championships Bowl event at Kings Park Sports Ground. Our students played really well over the course of the day and won all of our matches against French International School, Quarry Bay School, Discovery College and Chinese International School. It was great to see how much our batting, bowling and fielding skills have improved in the short space of time that our players have trained together, and this made our team so successful on the day. Well done everyone!
Racket Sports News
Last Friday we hosted the HKPSSA Island Schools Racket Sports event at Kennedy School and HKU. Year 5 and 6 boys and girls from Kennedy competed in mixed doubles teams for tennis, pickleball and table tennis in this friendly competition against DBIS, CIS, ESF Quarry Bay, Glenealy, Kellett and GSIS. Congratulations to our winning pairs in the following disciplines:
Table Tennis: Connelly + Peter, Ian + Adri, Alvis + Jenson, Ethan + Everest
Tennis: Adriano + Almos, Patrick + Jake
Important Note - Final Week of Sports Clubs
Next week will be the final week of our staff run Kennedy Sports Clubs for Year 4/5 Football, Golf, Swimming, Martial Arts, Cricket and Aquathon.
Our Dance and Movement Club will conclude on Thursday 12 June.
Football and Cricket Friendly Matches
ESF Glenealy School will come over next week for some friendly football matches against our girls and boys as part of our final Year 4 and Year 5 morning sports club. These friendlies will take place on HKU Pitch 2 at 7.00 to 8.00 am and will be refereed by our very own Kennedy Sports Ambassadors. This is a great way to foster sportsmanship and leadership skills amongst our students.
Next Thursday, we will finish our cricket club training with a friendly match against Glenealy School. This will also take place at HKU Sports pitches from 3.00 to 4.00 pm.
Please note that parents are welcome to attend the sessions. Good luck to everyone involved!
Here are some reminders from the Library:
Congratulations to everyone who donated a Birthday Book to the library!
A Splash of Colour: Year 4 Lead the Way
Last Friday 23 May, the school was a sea of creativity as students embraced their favourite colours in celebration of the PTA-planned "Dress in Your Favourite Colours Day." Led by our enthusiastic Year 4 students, the school was transformed into a gorgeous array of hues, reflecting individuality and joyful self-expression.
Beyond the fun and flair, the event raised an impressive $9,000, all of which will go toward an exciting artistic experience with renowned Hong Kong artist, El McColl. This initiative not only brightened the day but will soon inspire creativity in a whole new way!
Year 5 Art Experience: A Journey Through Ancient Egypt
This week, our Year 5 students showcased some truly stunning artwork as part of their art experience. We were delighted to welcome the talented Gail Deayton, who guided them in creating beautiful art reliefs, connecting their curriculum learning to hands-on creativity.
With Gail’s expertise, students explored the art of hieroglyphics, adding a unique touch with their thoughtfully crafted designs. This incredible opportunity was funded by the Olympics Dress-Up Day in Term 1, generously organized by the PTA.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this event such a success — especially our young artists, who brought history to life with their inspiring creations!
