First Day Back at School |
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What a Magical Few Days!
It's been a wonderful time to be in school, seeing our Year 6 students shine in both their exhibition and their graduation. Year 6 parents, thank you for your involvement! Please remember that you will always be a part of the Kennedy School family! Tonight, we party with the Year 6s. On Friday, we end the year on a high with the announcement of the winners of the House Championship!
To quickly recap the highlights of this week:
Last Friday, the Year 4s had an amazing time at their Swim Gala. On that same day, the Year 1s celebrated “Who We Are” Day with a carnival together with volunteer parents.
This week, Year 5 students wowed us with their Mylandia civilisation projects! They passionately described what they've learned and represented their learning in many ways, including models, multimedia sites, booklets, posters, Minecraft, and charts. It was inspiring to see the level of detail, engagement and the way they could articulate their thinking and research. Well done Year 5!
For the first time at Kennedy School, Year 2 students were visited by the exotic creatures brought in for their Animal Experience Day. See more in the PTA section below.
We also hope everyone is enjoying the Yearbook. It’s been lovely seeing students busily signing autographs all week! A big thank you to Julie Leong, who coordinated this and Manx Dotillos for the beautiful photographs that have gone into creating this incredible memory book for our students.

A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Kennedy School Community!
As the school year comes to a close, we want to express our gratitude to everyone who helped make Kennedy School a success. Your support has been invaluable, whether you were a part of the PTA, served on the School Council, volunteered as a class parent, or lent a hand at excursions and school events.
Thank you for dedicating your time to attend our celebrations of learning, performances, carnivals, sports and expressive arts events, and for your countless other contributions. We couldn't have achieved so much without you!
To all those families moving on, we wish you all the very best in your new locations and your new schools.
To the staff, you are incredible, and I thank you for making the students’ experience the best it can be. We look forward to seeing all the students back on Wednesday, 13 August, after some well-deserved rest and relaxation.
Thank you for an amazing year!
Kind regards,
Brenda

Year 4 Swimming Gala - Congratulations to the Lions!
Last Friday, we hosted the Year 4 Kennedy Swim Gala. It was a fantastic morning of swimming participation, competition and house rivalry. The swimming gala is part of the Kennedy swimming programme run by the Kennedy PE Department in close cooperation with our swimmer coaches from Aquakidz. All the Year 4 students participated in events selected by the swim coaches based on their abilities and we were treated to seeing the Year 6 Swim Squad who also showcased their swimming skills. In what was a very close event the Lions prevailed giving them a clean sweep as champions of Year 4 Swim Gala, Year 6 Swim Gala and Overall Sports Day!

Second: Dragons - 491
Third: Unicorns - 446

Congratulations Oliver Siu (6S)
Oliver Siu is the first recipient of a new Sports Award at Kennedy School focused on cricket called The Achintya Pandey Award. Achintya was a student at Kennedy School from Year 3 to Year 6 (2009 to 2012). His family wishes to highlight the deep affection he held for the school that nurtured his curiosity, joy, and sense of belonging. Achintya greatly valued the school’s vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to learning, exploration, fun, and friendship. It was a community that shaped him and remained close to his heart.
The Pandey family congratulates this year’s trophy winner and hopes the award inspires cricket enthusiasts at Kennedy School to embody the values of dedication, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that this award represents.
Yesterday marked my son's graduation, a truly bittersweet moment as both a parent and PTA Chair, as well as a member of the Kennedy community. My heart swelled with joy and excitement for our remarkable children, yet I also felt a tinge of sadness about leaving this fantastic community behind.
As I bid farewell to Kennedy School, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support in rebuilding our community through the challenging years of Covid and beyond. A special thank you goes to our incredible PTA Committee, whose tireless dedication has brought joy to our school. They have become not just colleagues but cherished friends.
We are a team, and on behalf of the PTA, I extend my gratitude to the outstanding Kennedy School Team—teachers, educational assistants, support staff, senior leadership, and site staff. I would especially like to recognize Brenda Cook. We've built so much together, and without her support and guidance, our accomplishments over the past years wouldn't have been possible.
Wishing the new committee and PTA leadership all the best in their future endeavours. Have a wonderful summer!
Natasha Petit-O’Connor
Creatures in the Classroom! Our Year 2 explorers wrapped up their “Sharing the Planet” unit with a ROARING success—an animal encounter right in school! Thanks to Animal Adventures (and the awesome support from our PTA's dress-up day fundraiser), students met some scaly, furry, and fantastically unusual animal guests.
From wide-eyed wonder to brave petting of slimy snakes, it was a day to remember. Learning + cuddly (and not-so-cuddly) visitors = the best lesson ever!
