Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What an unsettled week for all of Hong Kong. I hope that you, your families, and your property remained safe throughout the typhoon period.
A huge thank you to everyone, especially the clean-up teams in HK, including our Kennedy School site staff, who have been working hard to remove debris and get our city and school back to normal as quickly as possible.
We understand that many of you were disappointed by the class suspension today and wondered about the reason. The decision for the additional closure day was made because the T8 warning signal was lowered so late. This timing made it difficult to deploy clean-up teams and properly assess the school's condition last night. We couldn’t be sure it was safe to have students and staff on campus until our assessment was completed today.
We want to assure you that all of the clean-up work is now done, and we will be open for both staff and students tomorrow (Friday).
This has been an exceptional few days, on top of what has already been a tricky start to the new school year due to the weather. Please know that the safety of our students and staff will always be our number one priority.
Thank you again for your patience and support as we managed this situation.
Parent Information Sessions
Thank you for attending the Chinese workshops to understand more about the way we teach the Chinese language and integrate culture into our programmes.
Tonight, Thursday 25 September, from 6.00 to 6.45 pm - we have a session on Relationships and Sexuality Education (Online)
Please visit the Parent Information Workshop Series for details and links to join. This session will not be recorded.
Celebration of Learning and 3-Way Conference - Thursday 2 October 2025:
As you know, on Thursday 2 October, we are opening our doors for a special event designed to bring our community together. It’s all about learning and celebrating your child’s strengths, stretches and overall experience at Kennedy School. Where are they at now, and what’s their next step?
You will have all booked your time slot, and as a reminder, you can stay in school for as long as you like. Many families will stay on for 1-2 hours to take in everything that's happening. Our school library will be hosting a Book Fair on the same day. It is the perfect opportunity to browse a great selection of books and choose some new favourites with your child.
Timings: The school will open at 8.10 am and close at 4.00 pm. If you have one of the later appointments, please come at least 30-40 minutes before so you can see the other areas of the school.
Mid-Autumn Lantern Competition
We have been so impressed with the creative lanterns coming into school. They are amazing, and we can tell they have been a huge family project. Thank you for being involved!
It's not long now until the Mid-Autumn Festival!
We can't wait to see all the students in school tomorrow.
Kind regards,
Brenda

In school swimming class arrangements
As this week has been difficult for our swimming programme please note that extra sessions have been added to the final week of swimming, which will be the week of Monday 27th October. Let’s hope that we can have our remaining swimming sessions without any further disruption.
Please see the full timetable and add the next week’s schedule here:
Go, Kennedy girls' football players!
This Saturday, we will have two Kennedy girls' football teams playing at the ESF Peak School in a football tournament. We look forward to seeing the girls develop their skills in the friendly but competitive fixtures against QBS, Beacon Hill, Peak and Bradbury Schools. This will be a great experience for our players and set us up nicely for the inter-school competitions in the future. Good luck, girls!
Important Notes - Please remember that we always aim to give everyone as much notice as possible in the event of poor weather. For example, we will do our best to let everyone know by 6.15 am on the morning of a before-school club if it needs to be cancelled.
Join us at our Annual General Meeting!
The PTA AGM will be held on Tuesday, 21 October 2025 at 5.00 pm.
Whether you’ve been with us for years or just joined, your participation helps shape the future of our organisation. Light refreshments will be served, and we promise a lively, insightful discussion.
Please RSVP by Friday, 3 October here.
