Year 6 Camp |

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our Year 4 students set off excitedly on their overnight camp today, ready to take on new challenges with their peers in the outdoors. Meanwhile, the school has been abuzz with activities and excursions - from successful field trips for Year 1s and 3, to our Year 6 Swim Gala, which was a huge success. Many thanks to our PE team for their impeccable organisation, and congratulations to the Unicorns for winning for the first time!
Our Diwali assemblies this week have also been so well received, with students sharing their culture through dance, songs, and presentations. We all loved the celebration and learned so much too.
Halloween - With a Touch of Spooky Fun!
By popular demand, Halloween Dress-Up day is confirmed for tomorrow, Friday, October 31. Children can wear fun or fancy dress costumes or costumes with a spooky theme.
Please avoid costumes that are scary or gruesome in nature. It is essential that we ensure costumes meet this criteria to avoid frightening younger children. Please note that this is optional and please do not send any money or sweets/candies.
Kind Regards,
Brenda

It’s time for Games!
Our Kennedy Games programme starts tomorrow (Friday 31 October) with our Year 6 students going to HKU’s Stanley Ho Sports Ground for their first session. Students in Year 1 to Year 5 will start their Games sessions next week.
Through our Games programme, students will learn and develop their gross motor skills, team work and sporting ability by taking part in a wide variety of sports and fun physical activities.
Please note:
On Games days, students will need to wear their PE kit the whole day.
Games is taught by class teachers, PE teachers and specialist sports coaches in the upper years.
Your child needs to have a hat and water bottle as the weather is still very warm.
The Kennedy Games programme will run until mid April 2026.
Please mark your calendar with the following Games schedule for each year group:
Year 1 & Year 2 - Every Tuesday starting 4 November
Year 3 - Every Wednesday starting 5 November
Year 4 - Every Thursday starting 6 November
Year 5 - Every Friday starting 7 November
Year 6 - Every Friday starting 31 October
Swimming Updates
And the winners are the Unicorns!
Congratulations to the Unicorns as they were crowned champions of this year's Year 6 Swim Gala. After an exciting morning of races of widths, 50 m lengths, relays and 200 m individual medley races, the Unicorns emerged as winners this year. Swimmers earned points by completing individual and team events, cheered on by their House mates, parents and teachers. Many thanks to the Year 10 Sports Leaders from West Island School who came to marshall, time and score all 48 heats across a variety of disciplines. Thanks also to our swim coaches from Aquakidz in preparing the students for the gala, and thanks to the parents who came to support the event.
Official Year 6 Swim Gala results:
First: Unicorns 635 points
Second: Lions 551 points
Third: Phoenix: 464 points
Fourth: Dragons 417 Points

Swimming Lessons
Tomorrow is the very last day of our Term 1 Swimming lessons. Your child’s water safety swim lesson will take place in your child’s final swim session of this term. Please look carefully at the swimming schedule as some classes will be swimming at different days and times to their usual session.
Information about the water safety swim lesson
Students need to bring in the following clothes IN ADDITION to their usual swim kit:
Year 2: white T-shirt (for the first lesson of the week only)
Year 3 & 4: light coloured baggy shorts and white long sleeved T-shirt
Year 5 & 6: light coloured tracksuit/pyjama bottoms and white long sleeved T-shirt.
Only white or light coloured clothing will be permitted in the pool as dark colours react with the chlorine.
STUDENTS WILL BE UNDER STRICT SUPERVISION BY THE AQUAKIDZ EXPERIENCED AND FULLY ACCREDITED TEACHERS AT ALL TIMES .
Please see the final week’s swimming schedule:

Friendly Football Match
This morning, we hosted friendly Year 5/6 Boys football matches against our friends from ESF Glenealy on the newly redeveloped HKU Pitch 2. It was good to see that the hard work the students have put into our morning training sessions has paid off. All of the boys teams were victorious in all of the matches. This is great experience ahead of next week’s HKPSSA tournament.
HKPSSA Island School Football Tournament
On Monday 3 November, we will take 2 girls and 2 boys teams to TKO Training Centre for the HKPSSA Island Football Tournament. This promises to be an exciting day of action for our students. Thank you to all of the coaches for your help in training our players.
Well done Daniel Zhuang (5F)
Last Friday, Daniel participated in the HKSSF Hong Kong Island West Area Inter-Primary Schools Swimming Competition. He represented Kennedy School in the 50 m Breaststroke and 50 m Freestyle events and showed strong effort and consistency throughout. Well done Daniel!

PTA Annual General Meeting
Last week, we held our Kennedy School PTA AGM where we presented a comprehensive overview of our fundraising efforts, meaningful projects and wider community initiatives we achieved in the last academic year. We also highlighted our core strategies moving forward into this year including purposeful giving and community experience, themed coffee morning discussions to help families navigate school life and beyond, and to continue to develop engagement and volunteer opportunities for our Chinese community.
We are both so honoured to accept the role of your PTA co-chairs, and we are thrilled to have such wonderful parent and teacher committee members to actively support all our efforts to add a special sprinkle of enjoyment for all our Kennedy children. We would also like to thank our outgoing committee members - parent representative Wingie Tsui and teacher representative Juntao Cai, both of whom were valued greatly for their contributions.

The school year is only a few months in but the PTA members and admins have already accomplished so much. We are so excited for all the fun to come, and we can't wait to see you all at the biggest event of the year - the bigger and better than ever Kennedy School Festive Fair and Concert on November 14th!
