Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Wow! What a night! The Festive Fair and Concert was a massive undertaking and a huge thank you must go to the entire PTA committee. I know many parents headed up different parts of the Fair to make it so successful, and have been working for weeks to ensure that everything was organised and in place. We're all so grateful for their hard work and for volunteering so much time to make this event such a success.
A special thank you to Shammin and Lorna, our PTA Co-Chairs for their incredible leadership. Lorna’s, co-ordination of the whole project has been truly amazing. A special mention must also go to Jackie and Georgina, our PTA Coordinators, who have been the people on the ground making it happen day by day alongside Lorna and the team.
A massive thanks to Ron Saw and Vincent Tang, our Expressive Arts Team, who organised the amazing entertainment. It was wonderful seeing all the kids and staff up there performing in so many different ways and showing off their amazing talent. It was obvious that the audience really loved it too.
The turnout was huge, and we couldn't have managed a night like this without the incredible support of all the staff and families. A big thanks to those of you who volunteered your time and those of you who came and supported the event. It was great to see you all enjoying the fun on the night and being part of the community. Nights like this you can really feel the amazing Kennedy School spirit we are so lucky to have in our school community. Thanks everyone!
Technology Webinar: Healthy Holiday Habits
Rory Douglas hosted a very successful Technology Webinar last night, discussing how to get prepared for the upcoming break, looking at the right time to introduce devices, ways to manage device use, and much more. You can access the recording HERE and other previous webinars HERE.

Approaches to Learning
This week, we will continue to explore the Approaches to Learning (ATLS).
Along with the Learner Profile, the Approaches to Learning are central to all IB programmes, from age 3-18. They consist of a set of skills, categorised under 5 themes. Refer to the last issue of PYP in Action for the full explanation.
These skills are developed intentionally across the school and will look very different according to the child’s developmental journey. In our last issue, we looked at examples from our Year 1 classes. For this issue, we will look at the opposite end of the school and give an example from Year 6.
Issue #7: Approaches to Learning
All issues of all PYP newsletters can be found HERE.

AFL Fixture
Last Thursday, we took a team of fifteen students to compete in the annual AFL friendly at the Australian International School, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students' efforts. Kennedy performed exceptionally well in what is always a tough challenge at AIS, a school dedicated to the sport.
Our team showcased impressive knowledge of AFL, employed a variety of skills, and exhibited excellent teamwork, which helped build their confidence throughout each quarter, turning the game into a competitive battle. The sportsmanship and mutual encouragement displayed throughout the afternoon were definite highlights.
Each player gained valuable insights into the game and identified ways to enhance their skills as they prepare for Tag Rugby in Term 2. Well done to everyone involved.
Netball Tournament
Yesterday our Y5/6 Kennedy girls netball team were in action in the HKPSSA Netball Tournament at Wong Chuk Hang. Our girls performed really well in games against Kellett, DBIS, CIS and GSIS. Thank you to Ms Fox and Shammin for your help training the team.

Football Updates
Friendly v QBS
Today (20 November from 3.00 to 4.00 pm) we are hosting ESF Quarry Bay School for boys and girls football friendly matches on HKU’s Pitch 1.
On Tuesday 2 December, the A teams from Kennedy School and West Island School (Year 7) will also play a friendly game at HKU. This will be good practice for our players to build up to our next tournament which will be on Thursday 4 December against HK Island and Kowloon side schools. I will be in touch with the parents of players involved in these events very soon.
Well done Harry
Harry Mistry (3W) recently came 2nd in the Skill round in the Hong Kong Parkour Open Championships in the age 7 – 9 category. Good job Harry!

Festive Fair & Concert — Thank You.png)
A huge thank you to our entire school community for making this year’s Festive Fair and Concert such a wonderful success. It was a beautiful evening on campus, filled with great food, music, performances, and cheerful energy — and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Our heartfelt thanks go to:
Our incredible volunteers — Kennedy School Staff, Families, and the students from West Island School — who generously gave their time and enthusiasm to help everything run smoothly. Special mention to Brenda for her support, Rudi and Vincent for their fantastic MC skills, Ron for curating the entertainment lineup, Diana & Steven for capturing the event on camera, and Tamara for managing the bake sale.
All our vendors, especially our wonderful Kennedy School Parent-Run stalls:
Rick for the Rubik’s Cube Workshop
Carmen, Yuki, and Jen for the Preface AI Workshop
Ho Ka Lok Karate for the Karate Workshop
Jonny Glover and the whole team at Steak King, for providing the picnic tables, running the BBQ, donating all BBQ profits to the PTA, and contributing 15% of sales from their butcher stall.
El Charro, for kindly loaning the bar and high tables that kept the evening comfortable and festive.
All our talented performers — both adults and children — whose music and entertainment created such a joyful atmosphere throughout the night.
Our amazing Facilities Team, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare the venue, support the event throughout the evening, and assist with pack-down.
The PTA Committee and Admins, who have spent countless hours over the last six months planning, problem-solving, organising, coordinating vendors, volunteers, and logistics to bring the Festive Fair to life.
We’ll share our total funds raised, attendance numbers, and Steak King’s final donation amount in next week’s newsletter. We have had some really positive feedback, but would love to hear your opinion! Please take the time to fill out this year’s Festive Fair Survey, so we can make next year’s fair even better!
Thank you again to everyone who came along, volunteered, performed, or supported the event. Your involvement makes a real difference to our students and our school.
Favourite Book Character Day – Friday, 5 December
Get ready to dress up as your favourite book character! Show off your creativity and celebrate your love of stories and heroes.
We kindly ask each student to bring a $20 donation, which will support the Year 2s fund and provide something special for the entire year group to enjoy.
Don’t miss the chance to bring your character to life and join in the fun!
