Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Thank you so much for your help accompanying our classes on excursions over the last week. Our students love learning outside the classroom, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather for these outings.
I also want to thank you for engaging in our online parent-teacher conferences over the past month. Our teachers find these sessions really valuable for building strong partnerships with you, and I hope you found them equally beneficial.
Save the Date: We are excited to invite you back to Kennedy School for our second Celebration of Learning Day on Thursday, 26 March.
Following the successful format of our Term 1 event, this day is designed for you to join your child for a collaborative learning experience. In addition to participating in a student-led, three-way conference, you will have the chance to learn alongside your child in their classroom and visit specialist teachers. We are also delighted to announce that the popular Book Fair will be returning to the library!
Please save this date in your calendar. As with our previous event, we recommend allowing 1–2 hours away from work or home to fully enjoy the session and explore the school with your child.
PTA Coffee Morning
Our wonderful PTA will be hosting a coffee morning tomorrow, Friday 23 January, 8.30 am to talk about technology systems at school - how to navigate the ESP App, Gateway, how to book appointments, and much more. We look forward to seeing new parents and more in the staffroom! Sign up HERE with more details are in the PTA section below.
Getting to Know West Island School
We are delighted to continue our Parent Information Workshop Series presentations involving the West Island School Leadership team. Please check this link to find out more and to enrol for our second session which will be held online on Wednesday 4 February from 6.00 to 7.00 pm. This is open to all parents of Year 3-6 students. Please sign up HERE and also click this LINK from WIS to register for the webinar.
CNY Art Competition
We’re thrilled to share the results of the 2026 CNY Design Competition. A big thank you to the students who sent us so many wonderful designs! We’ve picked 24 of them to create a mural that will be displayed at school at the end of the month. Here’s the list of winners and their artwork! 10 pieces have also been shared with ESF for the foundation-wide Lunar New Year Card Competition.
Celebration of Music
We look forward to hosting parents of performers at our Celebration of Music on Tuesday 3 February from 4.30 pm. More than 100 students from our choir, orchestra, rock band and soloists will be showcasing their musical prowess. The live stream link will be shared later for all to view.
Get Ready for Sports Day!
It’s almost time for one of the most anticipated events on the school calendar! Our students always look forward to Sports Day, and we would love to see you at the HKU Stanley Ho Sports Ground to support them. You can find the dates and times in the PE section below. We hope to see you there for a fantastic day of fun, action, healthy competition and sportsmanship!
Kind regards,
Brenda

Welcome to our first PYP in Action for Term 2. Last term, we explored examples of the PYP Learner Profile attributes and the Approaches to Learning (skills) in the classroom.
This week, we will dig deeper into one specific category, self-management and its related subcategories - perseverance and resilience. Please read Issue 8 HERE.
All back issues are available HERE.

Recent Fixtures
Well done to our Y5/6 Girls Football Team in their friendly match against West Island Year 7 girls last Friday 16 January. Our girls performed brilliantly in a close 0-1 defeat against the older students. It was so nice to see how well the ex-Kennedy girls are doing at secondary school and it was a pleasure to see the students so evenly matched. We look forward to more of these events with WIS in the future.

Table Tennis at Bradbury School
Congratulations to our Table Tennis teams for their participation in the HKPSSA Table Tennis Tournament at ESF Bradbury School on Thursday, 15 January. Both our girls’ and boys’ teams faced off in a ranked event, where players were seeded from 1 to 4. Out of our 8 players, 3 emerged victorious against teams from Bradbury, DBIS, Quarry Bay School, and GSIS. The tournament was not only highly competitive but also played in a positive spirit. It is wonderful to witness the benefits our students have gained from the Friday lunchtime training sessions. Congratulations to all involved!
Sports Days
Sports days this year will be on:
Wednesday, 4 February: Year 3/4 am, Year 1/2 pm
Thursday, 5 February: Year 5/6 am
Each class will need 4 or more parent helpers, please fill in the form below if you are able to help. I will meet with parent helpers on the day of their sports day to explain the simple scoring system.
CIS Cross Country Run Availability
On the morning of Sunday 1 February, we will take a team of students to compete in the HKPSSA Island Cross Country Race. Our students will race in age categories. Each school can only bring up to a max of 6 runners for U8, U9, U10, U11 Girls and the same for the Boys category. Each age category will be timed and points are scored based on race positions. At the moment, we have one space still available in the U10 and U11 girls races and a space in the U8 and U11 boys race. If you would like your child to enter, please send me a message as soon as possible at pcrompton@kennedy.edu.hk and I can provide further details to you.
We are thrilled to announce that author Alex Stears will be visiting our school next Wednesday 28 January! He will share his exciting stories and inspire our young readers. His books are available for order HERE.

East Wing Roof - Update
Last year, we embarked on the exciting project to transform the East Wing Roof. With the support of the PTA, Brenda Cook, the PTA committee, Office Team, and the help of Festive Fair funds from 2024, we created a beautiful, peaceful outdoor haven—complete with a new outdoor classroom.
