Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Oh what a week! So much has happened in 1 week.
Sports Days
Congratulations to the Unicorns for raising the trophy and winning Sports Day! Pulling the whole event together was an amazing effort by our fabulous PE Team - Mr Crompton and Mr Bogaerde. Well done! Please read on for more details in the PE section below.
Celebration of Music
Over 100 students came together on Tuesday evening to deliver an amazing musical performance that had everyone clapping along. The choir, orchestra, Chinese orchestra debut, Rock Band and soloists played and sang, serenading everyone in the room. Many thanks to Mr Ron, Mr Tang the instrumental teachers, orchestra staff and our fabulous IT team for a wonderful evening of music and thanks to parents and family members for supporting your children and for attending on the night! If anyone would like to watch the concert, the live stream is still available for viewing: Celebration of Music Live stream

Year 4 Show - Kennedy’s Got Talent
Last Friday, the Year 4s showcased their passions and talents at our very own Kennedy’s Got Talent show. Students collaborated and practiced for weeks - they danced, sang, played music, performed martial arts, gymnastics, skits and magic tricks which had the audience in awe and also in peals of laughter. Many thanks to the teachers and families who helped and supported their efforts! You can watch it here:

CNY Carnival Dress-Up Day (9 Feb)
On Monday, we invite the children to join our Chinese New Year festivities in their favourite festive costumes or comfortable casual clothes. We suggest a $20 donation to help support our special CNY Carnival activities and Chinese resources.
Red Envelopes For Arts and Craft
As we prepare to celebrate Chinese New Year, we kindly ask for red envelopes for arts and crafts projects. Please drop off any empty envelopes at the school reception by Monday 9 February. This will make our festivities even more special! Many thanks in advance!
Friendship Chair
Last Thursday, Mr Scott with the Student Council, Belonging Ambassadors and staff got together for a small dedication ceremony to honour the memory of a past student, Achintya Pandey, who was at Kennedy School from 2009 to 2012. The Pandey family has generously donated the Friendship Chair in his memory, to the school as a space for reflection, comfort, and friendship for current and future generations of Kennedy students. We thank the Pandey family for their generosity.
And lastly, I look forward to seeing many storybook characters at our Year 2 Dress Up Day tomorrow!
Kind regards,
Brenda

So far this year, we have examined examples of the Learner Profile attributes and the Approaches to Learning. For the next few issues, we will investigate the Approaches to Teaching. The Approaches to Teaching are a set of principles, mandated by the IB, based on educational research on how students learn best. In this issue, we will focus on Inquiry.
The whole catalog of issues is available at the PYP Newsletter Library.

What an amazing few days of Sports Day we have had. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this an incredible day for our students. There were so many memorable moments from the team challenges to the individual excellence across the range of activities, we are so proud of the students. Without the collective effort of everyone involved, Sports Days like this would not be possible. From Year 1 to Year 6 the students put on an exciting exhibition of sporting competition and friendly house rivalry. Congratulations Unicorns!
Basketball News
On Saturday, 31 January, we brought a team of ten students to compete in the annual basketball competition at the French International School. Kennedy excelled in what is always a challenging event. Our team exhibited impressive teamwork and employed a diverse set of skills throughout each quarter, transforming every game into an exciting and fierce battle.
The sportsmanship and mutual encouragement shown during the afternoon were standout moments, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students' efforts on the court. Each player not only gained valuable insights into the game but also learned more about themselves as athletes, discovering ways to enhance their skills for the future.
A big thank you Zeng Laoshi and Coach Jason for their guidance and support in preparing our students for this event. Well done to everyone involved!

Cross Country Results
Last Sunday, we took a team of 6 boys and 6 girls to represent Kennedy School at the HKPSSA cross country races at Chinese International School (CIS). Our students ranged from under 8 through to under 11 performed so well in drizzly conditions in the morning through to a sunny afternoon.

We are thrilled to announce that Lucas Yau of 3H, has published his very own picture book about Bob and his adventures! As both the author and illustrator, Lucas showcased his creativity and storytelling skills, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement. The book is now available in our library for reading and borrowing. Be sure to check it out—it's a delightful adventure that you won’t want to miss! Congratulations, Lucas! We look forward to seeing more of your fantastic work in the future!

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed—whether by dressing up, donating, or cheering on the fun. Your enthusiasm and generosity made this a success.
