Dear Parents and Caregivers,
.png)
Tomorrow will be the finale of our Lunar New Year celebrations as we welcome the Year of the Horse! We encourage students to wear Chinese-inspired clothing or bright colours to school. Please ensure your child is dressed in layers for comfort as it gets very sunny in our playgrounds. (We will not be collecting donations.)
We’ve all enjoyed the LNY festivities so far, including Monday’s Carnival and this week’s assemblies. Our Chinese Department has gone the extra mile again providing us all with such an amazing array of wonderful events to welcome the Year of the Horse. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful team of professionals who inspire us all with their dedication and creativity. We have uploaded many highlights in the photo albums below:

We have one more assembly performance tomorrow morning at 8.30 am for the parents of performers. If anyone would like to watch it, please do so on our livestream:
Lunar New Year Assembly Live Stream
Today, our Lion and Dragon dance troupe performed for the ESF LNY celebration at Clearwater Bay School. Tomorrow, they will perform for us in the playground at our Whole School Assembly. Joining them will be a professional troupe, generously sponsored by our wonderful PTA. Thank you to the PTA for the support! If you’d like to watch this performance, please watch our live stream from about 11.00 am .

Kennedy Community Action Assemblies - volunteer speakers
After the break, we will be holding some ‘community action’ assemblies for our students. In these special assemblies, we share actions we take to make our world a better place. Here are the details:
Kennedy Community Action Assemblies
If you are interested in coming in to speak with our students, please fill in this form before Monday 23 February with an overview of your topic and your available dates (all sessions will take place in early March between 8:30 am and 9:00 am).
Please remember that tomorrow (Friday 13 February) is a normal school day and we will finish as usual at 2.50 pm.
Have a wonderful time with your families and friends during the Lunar New Year holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday 23 February.
Warm regards,
Brenda

Running News
On Tuesday, we brought more than 40 students from Years 3 to 6 for a friendly running race at Happy Valley racecourse with our friends from ESF Glenealy School and French International School. They ran either approximately 1 and a half loops (1.9 km) or 2 loops (2.6 km) of the race course track. It was a great experience for our students to run in a friendly yet competitive environment against other schools. This will put our students in a great position ahead of the races after the holidays. Well done to everyone that took part in this event, keep up the good work!
Congratulations to race winners:
Year 4 Boys Race 1.9km Winner - Andrew Miller 4D
Year 4 Girls Race 1.9km Winner - Vivienne Genung 4D
Year 5 Girls Race 2.6km Winner - Abby Wilson 5M
Year 6 Boys Race 1.9km Winner - Rikiya Kikutake 6S

HKPSSA Hockey Festival
Our Year 5/6 Kennedy Hockey Teams took part in the HKPSSA Hockey Festival on Wednesday at Hong Kong Football Club. Our boys team played close games against DBIS, Sha Tin, Peak and FIS and finished with a draw and win against Glenealy. Our girls team played together with students from French International School and drew matches against DBIS and Sha Tin and both won and defeated Bradbury School. Congratulations to Maximus Wong (6S) for being voted Most Valuable Player for the boys and Estelle Kwok (6R) and Annette Chu (6W) from the girls.

Congratulations to all our Student Athletes!
1) Josie (3H) and Jake Li (6P)
Josie Li (3H) and her brother Jake (6P) recently competed in the HKSSF Inter School Tennis Tournament. Jake and Josie had a blast testing their skills against some of the best players from other schools. Josie played in the U10 (Group C) and put up a great fight. It was high energy and a lot of fun to watch, while Jake competed in the U12 (Group A) and had a fantastic run, winning three matches to reach the Round of 16 and was really proud of the experience.
2) Youning Li (5M)
Youning recently participated in the HK District Tennis Competition after lots of training and hard work.
3) You Li (4O)
On Saturday, You Li (4O) participated in the School Sports Programme 2026 Sports Climbing Competition, representing Kennedy School. He won 1st place in the Boy's Explorer Aged 9-10 Category. The official link for more details.
4) Nathan Liao (3T)
Nathan Liao (3T) recently took part in the US Kids national golf championship held in China, over three days. It was a wonderful experience, and Nathan learned valuable lessons in handling pressure and maintaining focus.

Prize donation request!
Got something fabulous to share? We are collecting donations for Quiz Night! Whether it’s from your company, brand, or even a quirky re-gift, we’d love to add it to the prize pool. It doesn't have to be a big ticket item. The more goodies the merrier. Drop us a line at pta@kennedy.edu.hk.
Join Our PTA Community Wall Project!
As exciting updates continue on the East Wing Roof — including a gorgeous new sofa for students to explore, rearrange, and relax on. We’re thinking of adding a PTA community wall to make the space even more special. (see bamboo wall on right.) We’d love to decorate it with handmade yarn flowers! If you’re looking for a fun way to distract the kids from screen time over Lunar New Year and want to be part of this creative project, try making a simple yarn flower that we can add to the wall. Take a look here for easy instructions. Bring the flowers in to the PTA office or Reception after the holidays. Let’s fill that wall with colour, creativity, and community spirit!

Year 2 Dress Up Day Results: Favourite Book Characters
Our wonderful students lit up the school with their creativity and imagination, dressing as their favourite book characters. From Harry Potter to Winnie the Pooh, Lightning McQueen, Where’s Wally and so many more, the hallways were filled with colour, laughter, and the magic of storytelling.
Thanks to the wonderful support of our families and community, we raised an incredible $8,256! This will go directly towards an animal-tastic experience for our Year 2 students with Jurassic Garage, making the day not only fun but impactful.

Chinese New Year Carnival - Tasty Treats
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who shared their baking and cooking talents to bring an extra touch of community spirit to the Lunar New Year Carnival on Monday. Your generosity truly made a difference. The PTA was proud to host a welcoming space filled with homemade treats, creating a warm and festive environment for the carnival volunteers.
Don’t forget our Upcycle Project
If you are spring cleaning and have any items you think would benefit school or curriculum learning for any year group, please contact gadams@kennedy.edu.hk to discuss possibilities.
Uniform Donation Request
We kindly ask families to donate any unused uniforms in good condition, to the PTA Space. Many parents are looking for pre-loved uniforms for their children, and your contribution will make a big difference.
Donations can be dropped off at the PTA Space. If the Space is closed, please leave them at the Reception. Thank you for supporting our school community!
PTA Space Opening Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 am- 3:30 pm; Friday 8:00 am- 11:30 am.
